Well to be honest I had no aspirations of being a dive professional but I think what prompted this whole conversation is that LDS is looking to "diversify their portfolio". Son of instructor is going through with his scuba things. I think he just got his dive con or something of the sort. They...
I have been scuba certified since 2007 and currently hold a master diver certification with SSI. Naturally with all the diving to get to this point I have done anything from wreck diving to limited vis, navigation, stress and rescue just to name a few. And that is exactly where I left it for a...
I call shenanigans on gopro housings. To paint you a picture. I have multiple gopros and 2 hero 3 blacks in 197 ft housing were used and both flooded on same exact dive at different depths 2 years apart. I made a post about it a little earlier. First housing flooded at 106 ft. 2nd housing (brand...
I am not going to be emotional about this because while I hold all of my gopro cameras near and dear to my heart I do understand that at some point they are going to meet the maker.
2 years ago (2013) I spent a week diving in Roatan. I travel with multiple gopros so losing one was painful but...
Yeah..... except... that.... why would you want to dive with a gopro and original battery?
To get 2 1 hour dives with 15 minutes to spare people go for original battery + battery backpack.
To get 2 1 hour dives with 30 minutes to spare people go for wasabi battery + battery backpack.
Unless...
I would not get all exciting about this one boys and girls. Let's be honest... if this your first gopro purchase... it would be cheaper to get a $329 version of gopro hero 3 black + wasabi batteries for $19.99 than to spend $400 on a new + model. + model offers improvements, yes... but those are...
Great video.
Stabilizing video footage is something that takes a lot of effort but once you get it right, rest is history.
My biggest advice would be to master your buoyancy. And when I say master... I mean... your buoyancy needs to be 99.99999% on the money.... you hover effortlessly...
I have plenty more to share hehehe. Unfortunately while all videos are uploaded... youtube is being stubborn with 2 of them. I don't know why so I hope it resolves itself.

Let's start from the back and work our way forward. WaterSnorklerDiver creates his account in September of 2013 and has 4 posts in this very thread. What that means is that he/you are a new person to the forum so while you may have been lurking around forums (for your sake I hope you did), you...
Cool videos.
Word of advice... well 2... as a polar pro user to a polar pro user.
Take your camera and point it at yourself. Position filter with the tab (that has string coming off it) on your right. Now take the string and wrap it around camera's base and loop it through gopro screw. That...
While it is unfortunate to have your camera flood, you have immediately jumped to conclusions that all gopro housings are bad which is not true at all. Gopro is rated to 200ft... but that does not mean that you should be taking it to 200ft. That being said let's cover most important aspect...
Only thing you will need is a gopro hero 3 black shooting in 1080 60fps auto settings with a red lens filter you can buy from polarpro/srp/backscatter. Nothing more. Point and shoot. Stay 1ft away from thing you are filming as gopros have 1ft focal length.
If you can wait until hero 4 comes...
I have finished editing all of my videos so will start uploading them. 18 total. 3 listed above and here is 3 more for your pleasure.

I dive cost effectively rather than dive for sake of diving just because.
I used to go diving 4 hours away + hotel room. $120 in gas money. $50 in food expenses. $250 in diving 2 days 4 tanks. That is over $400 in just 2 days. I was like... wait a minute... how is that cost efficient?! And so...
I think what is missing in the dive industry is requirement to dive responsibly. I have met a lot of divers, even those with a large number of dives under their belt, dive completely irresponsibly. A dive plan is a dive plan is a dive plan. If dive master tells us that after repetitive diving...
As someone who bought my "dive package + OW + Nitrox" when I got certified in 2007 I will generally agree with the statement that buying personal gear should be left in hands of the diver but unfortunately any newbie is walking into a dive shop looking like deer in the headlights so it is very...
