    Scubapro BA/156 parts & Questions

I upgraded the second stage to the newer s wing white poppet and bal. chamber and spring. This was a kit sold by Bryan. The diaghram was a new old stock blue for a G250 and the first stage is an Aqua Lung SEA first stage adjusted to 150psi. breathes less than one inch and is stable.

    Aqualung Legend vs Scubapro?

I have both, G250's and Legends. Two of each. The Legend breaths a little easier, smaller and has a larger easier to use Venturi control. Especially if your using neoprene gloves. I also find the Legends to be more quiet. The only negative I find on the Legend is the rubber purge cover. I live...

    Nemrod Snark lll

The original hose assembly had a small exhaust and intake valve in the mouthpiece. If you plan too dive with it, the bigger hose assembly will help it breath a lot better.

Dive gear express double braided hoses? Impressions?

I'm not sure what brand my braided hose is. I have heard and read about problems with braided hoses. Seems as though exposure to a lot of sun and heat could be a problem. Living here in the snow belt, maybe not as much. When I removed the braided hose, I found nothing coming out of it. Outside...

Dive gear express double braided hoses? Impressions?

Yesterday I was on a dive with my favorite regulator. One of the original Legends. I had replaced the hose with a braided one years ago, don't remember how long ago. Yesterday while diving I heard a crack noise that sound to me like an electric spark. It happened several more times on a one hour...

    Aqualung reg problems

I was on a liveaboard years ago and the crew were rising off regulators and camera's in a big tub of water. What we didn't know was, while divers were down the crew just filled the tube with salt water. If the regulators are not rinsed well in fresh water, the diaphragms can stick to the...

    Calypso J First Stage

After replacing the seat without success, pretty much feel this job is above my pay grade. There are a lot of used first stages around and I got one off feebay. Thought I would use it for parts but it looks absolutely mint. No signs of wear or corrosion and there is a punch mark indicating its...

    Calypso J First Stage

Thanks for your response. I got the parts kit and watched the video on rebuilding it at Vintage Double hose. I always had to buy the cheapest regulators until I was in the Navy. I was on the Oriskany and we pulled into Subic Bay where I bought my first top shelf regulator at the Naval Exchange...

    Calypso J First Stage

I bought a Calypso J in 1971, dove it exclusively for 18 years. I decided to get it up and running again for shits and giggles. I remember it had a recall on the HP seat and mine was effected. I bought a kit for it but I believe I'm having problems with the piston bushing assembly. Does anyone...

    Snark II side exhaust

I will try and attach a photo here. Have not done that in a long time so it might be tommorrow before I get that figured out. All the Snark II photo's I have seen, attache the diaphgrahm cover with what looks like straps holding the mouthpiece on. I put a hose on mine that came off a Scubapro...

    Snark II side exhaust

Great responses. I was surprised to read that they were made up until 1974. From 1959 to 1974 that is quite a run. I don't recall seeing anything about them in the 1970's so possibly they were not sold in the USA that late; although I was in the Navy until late 1970. I used Google translation...

    Snark II side exhaust

Thank you for responding. Those are the best diagrams I have seen. I have 3 of these, 2 with with blue rubber and one all black rubber with chrome fittings. The black could probably survive taking a part. The blue rubber is in bad shape. they probably breathed pretty hard as the mouthpiece is...

    Snark II side exhaust

I have a couple Snark II's side exhaust regulators. One has a black rubber mouthpiece and uses standard hoses. Best way to explain how it breathes would be to breath through a regulator that is not hooked up to a tank with the dust cap off. I put the second stage on a different first stage and...

    White lithium grease in tank

Would never wreck a useable tank. I am talking about target practice on an empty tank AFTER it fails hydro. Actually it seems some hydro facilities try to. Not fully drying out steel tanks, or putting the valves in so tight.

    White lithium grease in tank

I brought the tank back to the dive shop today and talked to the instructor that worked there. It was his tank. I showed him tumbling media I used and he saw how it had a grease like white substance on the media. His best guess was that someone rented the tank and had try to fill it from some...

    White lithium grease in tank

Progress report.. I poured in 3 bottles of alcohol and tumbled the tank for another hour. Most of the tumbling media unstuck its-self from the tank and came out along with what looked like wet paint, Sort of a white/gray color. I repeated the process and the rest of the media was dislodged. The...

    White lithium grease in tank

I appreciate all the comments. The tank was probably never in salt water, its located in WI. The amount of grease or Christolube is what throws me. The entire tank, bottom, sides all the way around and up near the top of the tank, is all coated with it. And its a rather thick coating. The...

    White lithium grease in tank

A friend who owns a dive shop did a visual on a alum tank he had in rental. The tank was like nothing he had ever seen before and knowing I had a tank tumbler he asked me to take a look. The valve had what appeared to be white paint on it but it was not completely dry. I wiped my finger inside...
