    Bird Key Park ...Saturday...2/25/2023...mid-morning

I probably will not find many fossils but I hope to do some shallow water photography at the park tomorrow...no red tide there anyway at least not when I drove by today. Would be great to see others there.

    Water clarity at shore

To those that search the edge of the surf for teeth, forget your sieves and shovels...the water is so clear at the sand ledge you can actually see your feet in knee deep water...grab your mask/snorkel and pick those teeth off the bottom before the winds change and the emerald green waters return.

    Aquanutz boat dive 2/19/2020

I did a tooth hunt boat dive with Capt. Mike today. Lots of fun and good company. I got a couple of small megs myself...others were much more successful. For me it's about quality of life, not quantity. It was good to be allowed to do solo w/out a lot of questions or hassle. It's too bad no one...

Feb 22/23/2020 Venice area shore dives

Viz permitting I will probably be doing shore dives for teeth/fun this upcoming weekend off Service/Broward/Venice Beach area if anyone wants to hook up for Sameday/Sameocean buddy. I also enjoy working with newbies. If you see an orange child's yak/tall flag out there it's me. If the viz is...

    March 2020 shore dives

Looking to do some early (8-9am) tooth/fun shore dives off Broward/Service/Venice beach late Feb. into March. I am down here and in the water now. If you see an orange child's yak that's me.I have no problem diving with newbies.

Snowbirding Venice Beaches February and March 2020

I will be staying North Port for a couple months this winter and am interested in any dive events happening that I might join in. Will be doing shore diving mostly but interested in boats also. Suggestions welcome.

    Venice area shore diving 2/26-3/6/2019

Will anyone be shore diving in the next few days off Venice. I dive alone and am not looking for a buddy. I just like "same day/same ocean buddies.".

    OTS Guardian FFM

I am posting this in hopes that it may help others to overcome some of the problems I have had learning to use this mask. I have had mine about 2 years now and have been toying with it as a recreational diver in the shallows. I have had problems with fogging and with equalizing it. A couple of...

    Nubble mask lost today

A diver lost a mask today at the nubble entry/exit area. I know this is the wrong place to post it, so shoot me. Hopefully a local might see this post and recover it in the next few days. I don't have a description of it but I have the diver's email address and can get a description from him...

    Nubble boots

This probably should be posted in the BOOTS area of the Forum but I think it will more likely be seen here by the locals frequenting the site. Nubble is known for the Nubble Crawl and falling. Some years it can be so slippery with algae/moss/seaweed whatever that when you exit you have to crawl...

Nubble 1 Jan New Years' Day Dive

Just a heads up if anyone is interested..FYI...some of us are planning on being at Nubble mid morning on New Years Day to go for a dip. Nothing officially planned and no shelter, food, etc. I hope to bring my little heated shelter and porta potty anyway. When you get older these become a...

    SNUBA ice diving

I was just curious if anyone has tried SNUBA through a hole. Would keeping the tank topside in a warm bin of water prevent freeflows? I am not recommending this as a way to ice dive. I can just see a possible application in situations such as doing a vehicle recovery in shallow [5 - 8'] of water...

    Design flaw

I have owned the weight/trim harness for 3 years and really love it. Because of my Alfred Hitchcock physique I can't keep a standard weight belt up. I use the harness maybe 30 dives a year w/abt 15 lbs each pouch. At other times I use a weight intergrated bcd. Lately I have noticed that the...

Nubble Lighting Nov 30 2013 Christmas tree dive

So, is anyone planning a dive this year? If not I am considering doing it myself. But instead of a tree [which has turned out to be a major hassle], I am thinking of just sinking a large decorated wreath to keep the tradition alive. Besides, the spectators mostly enjoy the underwater light show...

    Save-A Dive kit

If you were going out on a 1 day charter by yourself and wanted to make up a save-a-dive kit for that day what would you put in it, supposing it was going inside a container the size of a new mask box. Or would you just not worry about it - trusting in your pre-dive maintenance and equipment checks.

    Ice diving and drysuit buoyancy

Some say use your drysuit for buoyancy / bc for surface flotation; others say fill your drysuit just enough to get the squeeze off / use the bc for buoyancy. I've tried both ways. This day I was using air in the drysuit for buoyancy and warmth. Recently I experienced an emergency extraction...

    Service Club Sunday June 2

I got in a dive at Service Club last May when I was down that way and I am planning another day of it there this year. I usually shore dive alone, but I would like to tag along with other like-minded individuals for a day of same day, same ocean diving. Will anyone be out there that day that...
