I just checked my first wreck dive off the list. I finally dove the HMCS Saskatchewan on sunday July 19th. Vis was pretty low, and I can't wait to get back out there and see the rest of her.

i'm gonna guess that someone was pulling your leg. i could be wrong (and I usually am) but if there was any validity to the story, you'd be able to find alot of info on it on the internet, and there'd probably be people on this board that had dove (dived?) it...

i was in the same boat. I was TERRIFIED of deep water as a kid for the same reason. I didn't even like swimming in a pool at night because of the fear of being munched by a shark. I thought it was really going to cause me issues with my OW course, but as soon as i hit the water, all was calm...

i am looking forward to it.... I definitely have to dive a cenote...

I know you're going to get great responses from people more knowlegeable and experienced than me, so I don't think I'll try to give you advice on the medical-ish side f this problem. What I will advise you is that you shouldn't be forcing yourself into diving so as not to "let your family...
