    SMS100 vs Nomad XT

I saw what Edd did with his rig except for the alteration of the chest strap, which I assume he raised it up higher on to the shoulder straps? I didn't like the way he did the bungees attached to straps coming from the back, if this is the way he still has them, inflate the wing and the straps...

    Is 'simple side-mount' an option?

Getting the necessary skills to dive safely and proficiently scare you but slinging an 80 and or putting on extra gear to extend your dives doesnt? You are running as fast as you can and still going backwards. Doesnt make much sense. Navigation course will get you no where, learning a compass is...

    SMS100 vs Nomad XT

Rob I understand what you're saying now but haven't really noticed a problem with that either. Maybe being the rig wasnt yours it wasnt adjusted to your liking. You can snug that top webbing down pretty tight. You could always attach the two pieces of webbing together via some sort of sex bolt...

    SMS100 vs Nomad XT

FWIW I dont have any problems with the webbing on the sms100, it doest pull to the side being that there is a chest strap that prevents this. This is with steel tanks and stages. The wing is way nicer then the nomad, its more streamlined, doesnt taco or bump up like the nomad, no trim weights...

UK - HID Lite Cannon As Video Lights?

You can purchase the 2-21w hids for $600 (batteryspace.com)their custmer service sucks though)) thats a $100 less then what you'll be paying. They come with rechargable batteries and charger, as far as the arms make your own using parts easily purchased from mcmastercarr, look under snap loc...

UK - HID Lite Cannon As Video Lights?

IMHO 10w light canons are no where near bright enough for video. Their 10w HID's with diffusers to soften the hot spots created with out it. This is another poor characteristic of these lights, diffusers dim down the brightness of the light. I wouldn't go with anything less then dual 21w hid's...

    Lights - How much power?

According to your web page your over volted 50w bulb is 20% brighter due to over volting (which shortens bulb life). Also your web page states that mr16 bulbs are between 12-16 lumen per watt. So lets say a regular mr16 is 14 lumen per watt, 14*50=700*20%=140+700= a total of 840. This would mean...

A few questions: Weight & Hood

Derek Well if you want to bring up stuff from another board (which is a non-dir forum) lets do so. You claimed bungie wings were the height of stupidity, whether you're right or wrong. It sounds like a GI statement not a statement coming from a newbie, so this is why you were called a...

When to dive unsupervised? (w/o dm)

Here's a couple of easy questions you can ask yourself to see if your ready. 1. If your buddy has a problem, do you feel comfortable enough to beable to save his/her life? 2. If you have a problem, do you think your buddy is capable of saving your life? If you have doubt, you should go...

    OK, lets build a scooter....

DIR RECDIVER, Your statement is horse pucky. You can purchase a Mako motor for $600 (brand new) if you know the right person and get it rewound. Lots of people have copied these, lots of people are using these rewound motors in their Tekna's and Mako's. You need to get out of the assumption...

scuba pro yoke - 300 bar connection

SC if I were you I would take my regs to the shop too. It has nothing to do with saving a buck but I would rather fix, repair, overhaul my own regs then let some shop monkey do it. I think I'm more worried about equipment failure and my life at depth then some """Reg Technician"""" that gets...

scuba pro yoke - 300 bar connection

Give me a break. There's no hokis pokis to putting on a DIN. Yeah there might be a specific setting but tighten it up till it stops and then snug it, will be fine. I betcha 99% of dealers do it the same way I just suggested.

    Just a question??

I must be a looser too because I read your post the same way Mike did. I'm actually surprised you didnt use the word "stroke". I think your post is way out of line, Mike didn't call you any names. Personally I think that your taking this way overboard. You need to relax a little. He's...

I just bought an Aeris Scooter

Some food for thought! Its not a terrible thing usining your scooter for a crutch but if your in a position where your scooter dies, you best be able to surface if you cant swim the distance back. You really dont want to scooter farther then you can swim unless there's no doubt that you would be...

I just bought an Aeris Scooter

If it happens only on start-up I would say its a natural reaction for your hand in the pistol grip position to kick backwards from the initial thrust of the scooter. If it is happening when your riding it, I would have to assume (because I've never dove with you) that its caused from improper...

I just bought an Aeris Scooter

Your arm should be able to fully extend while in trim when riding the scooter. You dont want to feel any prop wash at all. If you do your not trimmed out properly or have 2 much dangling. Speed depends on the enviroment your diving in. You shouldnt ride the scooter any higher then 7. You get...

    Which HID now

I think the Stealth canister is the best one out there right now. Solid delrin no acrylic, no pvc and has a quality switch. On top of that the battery is fused. As for light heads, there is no perfect one out there yet. The most reliable light heads out there right now are the non-focusable...

OMS IQ vs Halcyon - and issue of Fastex failure?

Usually you have a D-ring above the fastex and I add a half d-ring below, this way if need be I can just take out my little double ender bolt snap and clip them together.
