I'm aware of the difference. Alpha Flag flown alone means "Surface movement limited by Underwater Activity", none the less it is a "Dive Flag" and I'd prefer to have 2 different flag on my calves so the second one will be Alpha.
I have 2 tats...
First is my wife's name under my wedding ring.
Second is Diver Down flag on my right calf with the dates of my OW & AOW Certs. Once I've completed DM, AI & MSDT I'll add those dates to the flag.
I'm planning a second dive flag (International Alpha Flag) on my left Calf. This...
Exactly as GrumpyOldGuy says...
Is it the right tool for the job?
In my opinion the window of usefulness for SpareAir is limited. If I'm concerned enough to need to carry a fully redundant gas supply then my 30cuft pony bottle is the proper tool because it means I'll be diving from 80 - 130...
And in all honesty how many OW students still have their manuals today?
For me it isn't about saving a little money, my instructor doesn't mark-up the books so a new Rescue Manual would only cost me $22. I just don't see the point of everyone owning a book that they will hardly ever open...
Better yet, tell the dive shop that if you can;t share neither of you will take the class there so your money will go to support another shop!
Vote with your dollars...
Holy Shark Chit Batman....
I've never been required to purchase any of the DVDs!
I do buy them but I always get weird looks when the shop offer to let me borrow their library copy.

FWIW, his statement was along the lines of "PADI wants to ensure that each certified diver has access to the materials after their certification if they choose to utilitize it for further review or to refresh their memory at a later date. Allowing family members residing in the...
That would depend on how old the manual is. My specific example was using my Rescue Diver Manual from last year for my wife & daughter. He confirmed that my manual was still current.
The understanding I got from the conversation is that some shops were loaning "library" copies of outdated...
I called PADI yesterday to ask about this as I've been receiving mixed answers.
Spoke to a gentleman in the Training Department and he explained it to me this way:
In the past some dive shops have been known to "Library" the Manuals to save the students the expense of purchasing them. This...
Oh man, I know I have a set from my 2xl JetFins (for my drysuit) which I converted to use the same spring straps I have for my other fins.
I don't know Lightening or non but I'll look through my gear for them. What'cha offering if I dig them out?
How about telling us what you're planning to do with the drysuit?
Different suits work better in different environments.
I have the Evolution 2 and I love it. Of course it is a bit bulky but the shell is very durable and that works well for me as I'm interested in wreck diving.
