    Headed to Bonaire

the last time i dived the hilma hooker a one legged diver was doing it from shore. Unless it has moved its a 5 minute swim from an easy shore entry. cdnfireman. My muppets guide to most bonaire shore dives- Head straight out from the beach noting the compass heading and remembering the...

    Bonaire Park Dives?

i found the park dives very rewarding and nice to have the whole dive sites with no others. Probably the best diving in the island . Its an adventure that would be lost if you did it on a boat.

    save a dive kit?

my spares kit depends on the situation. A shore dive with no support might mean a compressor ,booster , tanks, spare everything and as many tools as i can get in the back of the motor. A weeks liveaboard might mean just 1 low pressure hose that is specific to my rig and a backup mask as there...

    Small backup depth guage?

99% of backup depth gauges are bottom timers ,dive watches or second computers. if you want to join the other 1% you will need a small foam bullet. the deeper you go the smaller it gets-with practice you can judge depth to within 20% of actual depth.

    my deep air story

I think if you are air diving on a very regular basis then a ppN2 of 5 would be about the max. The length of time at depth has as much to do with it as the depth itself. Dunno if im a devoted trimix diver but a little sure does go a long way.

    Diving Accident, Self-Responsibility and Balance

you had a crap dive because you had neither the fitness nor the experience for the dive. Partly the blame should lie with the dm's whose decision it was to plan the dive and decide who does what. Learn and keep diving just like the rest of us.

    Drift Diving and slow descent

equalizing doesnt involve luck. equalize early and often. You will get better with experience. It helps if you are properly weighted -it will get better with time. If you have a medical condition that means you are slow at equalizing i would tend to stay away from drift dives.

    Absolute "Minimalist" Diving.

less really is more. Every dive i do i am minimalist-sometimes its a rebreather and multiple stages and sometimes its a snorkle and mask. In the good old days there was a lot more minimalist diving because ..well the amount of kit available was minimal.
