MTX's are great regs but over $500 difference between set of XTX-50's and they are also enviormentaly sealed.I have dove at Dutch Springs in February in 34 degree water and my XTX's were perfect. On my Deep 6 regs. with HP tanks in cold water air leaks until reaches 3000 psi.
I would suggest Apeks xtx50's for regs. I use this for my primary sidemount configuration with Deep 6 regs. for backup. MTX-R are great regs also but unless you are diving in 30's degree waters not worth the additional expense.
try HP100's-have been using for sidemount for years and like it far better than 120's. I still use my 120's for deeper wreck dives but all around diving I GO WITH HP100'S.
And for some stupid reason European sites will not sell or ship Xdeep products to USA. Check Cave Adventurers in Fla., they have good prices on Xdeep stuff..
Of course they will , usually regs. will free flow if water temps are in low to mid 30 degree F. unless enviorment sealed top on first stage such as Apeks & Aqualung legends have.
Welcome I also live in New York area, you will need a 7mil wetsuit for local Northeast Diving and you should look into joing a local dive club to connect with other local divers. New York Sea Gypsies is a great club with all levels of divers and they meet monthly in Manhattan..
