    Drysuit Squeeze

I agree with LY and would like to add something. Scubakat, this is a very common problem with dry suits that are bought "off the peg" and also with custom suits to some extent (having baggy legs). You can do as LY said and just add enough air to stop the suit sqeeze and thereafter use your BCD...

    Split Fins and Tech Diving

The vortex pattern created by split fins are not good for diving in silty environments period.

    Split Fins and Tech Diving

The simple answer is that split fins are attrocious for modified kicks often used by 'techies'. For example the frog kick is used alot inside wrecks and caves so as not to stir up any silt. I now use the modified frog kick 90% of the time in open water, especially in lakes when other divers are...

Tank bands for stages (yes or no)

LY i am not too sure what your trying to say? Do you mean wannabes like me or are you talking about people in some kind of metaphoric genetic reference?

Tank bands for stages (yes or no)

The main drive for a cave diver must be the exploration of the unknown. I suspect that this is the major reason why the majority of cave divers choose to dive in caves. Beacuse some people cant fathom out in your own head why people "choose" to dive caves they must shun them, but why? I...

Spring Straps, Why are they DIR?

I finally bought some EL Scubapro jetfins today and i must say that they are built like a brick outhouse. Awesome build quality and i reckon they wouldbe the only fin to survive an all out nuclear attack lol. There pretty negative which i love they look smart which i suppose is a bonus. I still...

HELP? APEKS TX-100 Yoke or DIN?

Wheezy hey. Let me just add that, Apeks make a regulator converter AND a regulator adapter. Both are used to interchange between DIN and Yoke. If you want a complete conversion from DIN to Yoke or vice versa make sure you get the "converter kit" not the adapter. However you may want to look...

    Lift Bags, please help!!!

Ali Here's a link for you of a movie of an obviously skilled diver deploying a liftbag (Halcyon I believe). It's 17 megs, but its worth it, it's very good quality. Not sure how much of a proficient internet user you are so let me try to make the d-load easier if u want to keep the movie...

Ascent rate without the high tech gadgets

Personally if i ascend without an ascent meter i ascend as slow as possible and try to go much slower than my bubbles. This is especially true if i am free ascending without a line or visual reference. However, its much easier said than done. Cheers

Ed your statement above doesnt even deserve a reply. (Infact that begs the question why did I bother.)

    Advanced Wreck Course

Greg you think DIR is a marketing ploy so everyone buys grear from Halcyon? What a strange statement i know plenty of DIR divers without ANY Halcyon kit. Some of Halcyons kit is not DIR either, but they dont choose to tell you that. 'Fact' is there wings are nothing short of awesome, period...

Cool Rick. I am sure that alot of people use the smaller tanks in the US too its just that iv never seen anyone diving doubles with anything bigger than twin 12's , it made me think. I know of people that use twin 15's but thats absolute maximum. i just couldnt imagine someone using an 18-19...

    When to Double?

All great imput being put into this thread, keep it coming. :) The reason i aksed about the conversion between cubic feet and litres is just so i could get an idea of what you guys are using. It seems that you guys who i believe most are from the US are using relatively large tanks compared...

    DIR info and site please

http://www.dis-uk.com Also John Liddiard from Diver Magazine has been doing research on DIR lately (he isnt a DIR diver but tests all the equipment that "Diver" reviews) for next months edition. He consulted with the members of the DIS-UK DIR yahoo message list of which i am proudly a...

    When to Double?

Interesting and helpful thread by the way. I will be buying some doubles soon and wondered what was the popular opinion on when to use Steel or Aluminium doubles. Everyone i have dived with so far who have used doubles, have used steel faber lightweights. Do divers uing aluminium choose to...
