    Catalina hotels - making reservations

When we lived in Socal and would make a weekend trip to Catalina Seaport is where we would stay. Ithas been over 5 years but I am sure it is a nice now asthen. They are very customer oriented in giving you lifts to/from the dock and to Casino Point, and yes, we would always tip the driver (and...

Where to stay and dive with on Big Island

We prefer staying at Royal Kona Resort. Still within walking distance of some shops and restaurants. And in my opinion, STAY AWAY FROM UNCLE BILLIE'S!!

great shore diving trip to Maui

Glad you had a good time. Sorry about the traffic, it has become very annoying. Notsure if it is because of an influx in cars or because all the road work going on. Old Airport Beach is a great dive on the westside, but personally I prefer the south beaches. Ulua and Makenna my favs.

Royal Lahina Vs.Napili Surf Beach Resort Vs.Ka'napali Beach Hotel

Lahaina Shores is very nice and close to everything in Lahaina Town, downside is the beach isn't the best. Ka'anapali Beach Hotel is a nice place to stay almost next door to Whalers Village. Royal Lahaina is on the north side of the Ka'anapali resort but it is where I would choose to stay. The...

This tragic accident occurred at Canoe Beach but according to further investigations he was not diving or snorkeling as originally reported. He was working on the markers used for the outrigger races that they have in that area. Sad

Casino Point does not disappoint - 31 December 2011 dive to wrap up the year

Thanks for the post brought back good memories. We use to spend theHolidays over on Catalina and dive Casino Point. Sort of miss those days, diving in the kelp, but not the chilly water.

    What Camera to Buy?

I have the GoPro HD and absolutely love the camera. The quality of the movies is pretty good, but I do have one gripe - it is a "fixed" lens so you can't zoom in or out. Also, I haven't taken any video underwater yet. I have been landlocked for a year due to med issues, but am anxious to get...

    Maui car rental in May

It has been well documented on here over the years about cars being broken into here on the island, just like on Bonaire and on the mainland as well. The trick is to not leave anything of value in the car and leave the doors unlocked or the windows down.

    Maui County Delivers Final Blow

Aloha Doug, I have come to believe Maui County Council doesn't care about the little people. In watching council meetings they are for anybody or anything that can line their pockets. My advise to you and anyone else upset with their lack of compassion is to vote them out. It would be nice...

    FS - camera housing

I have a WP-DC300 housing for the Canon Powershot s40, s50 cameras. Lost the camera somewhere (out of water obviously) and have no need for the housing. Only used the housing on one trip to Bonaire. Asking $50. PM me if interested.

    Reclaiming Aloha

Are you kidding me? There is so much pork spending with all levels of government, not just here on the islands but across all states. I would even venture to say the world. As far as the Aloha Spirit, for the most part it is alive and well here on Maui. We rely on tourism for most of our...

Recommendations for a dive shop in Maui?

and welcome to the board. Which dive shop/boat you use is going to depend deeply on where you will be staying. As has been discussed in this forum many of times, in Lahaina you have a couple of shops - Pacific Dive and Lahaina Divers. Both are on Dickenson in Lahaina town. Maui Dive Shop also...

    Maui overnight boat trips?

rydog, I have not heard of any liveaboards for here on Maui, I believe the only liveaboard boat in Hawaii is the Kona Aggressor. I don't remember seeing any but I am sure others who are more active in the diving community could answer that better. Before I moved here and I would come over...

    Molokini diver operators

I was at Lahaina Harbor this morning and saw boats going out that if you were a pessimist you would say they were half empty, if you are an optimist they were half full. Trilogy, which is normally packed to the gills only had about 20 people on the cat this morning. The vendors on the dock...
