    Going Galapagos October-Dry-Suits and Currents

Just came back a few days ago. Glad I stuck with the Fusion drysuit. Many had semi-dry wetsuits and in general were comfortable, but 6:30am dives took some persuading with the water temps. Santa Cruz and surrounding islands: 17-20 deg C. Wolf & Darwin: 21-23 deg C. Mobility was very...

    Going Galapagos October-Dry-Suits and Currents

Thanks for the comments. I've decided to stick with my Fusion for the trip. I know how it dives and I can keep my weight (in the water and one the plane) down. I already own the Whites seal and patch kit that I can replace seals or make repairs on the boat. I can't come to grips with buying...

    Going Galapagos October-Dry-Suits and Currents

I'd like to bump this thread again. I've heard the reasoning regarding drysuits and punctures on the rock in the Galapagos while watching the ocean fly by, but my White Fusion Tech has held up to many rock entries c/w bump scoots, dive ladders and platforms. I don't even own a 5 or 7mm and I'm...

Dive Reports From Nautilus in Los Cabos

I spent three days diving with Nautilus in Los Cabos. Thanks for a great time by Mike, Casey, Luis, Maimo and Mike's wife Beck. Day 1 was spent in the Bay around San Lucas. Dredging in the bay is causing some visibility issues. Hopefully, they'll be done soon for future divers. Sand falls were...

    Weekday diving?

I'll be visiting my sister in Seattle starting next weekend for a sailing trip. After the trip, I have a few days starting Aug 28 to Aug 30 (leaving on the 31st) to go diving. Is there anyone that would be interested in going diving or know of any charters to go on? I'll have all of my gear...

    GUE/DIR BP/W question

Assuming you've picked a course to take and possibly already registered, then talk to your perspective instructor. They can make recommendations as what you need to have and what would be nice to have. My instructor rented me a HID canister light because I couldn't decide on what to buy. Your...

Anyone using a 2XL Whites Fusion Technical, how tall are you?

Obviously, can you try it on? If not, I have a 2xl and I'm 6ft, 190lb, with a 34 inseam. The inseam is why I bought it. The beauty of the Fusion it will "shrink" to fit your regardless of size with the stretchy skin. However, it's best to get the smallest size possible for your body size...

Roatan Children's Fund on eBay Dec 2010

I'll be in Roatan next month. I posted a bcd for sale on SB, this would be a much better cause. How do you make a gear donation? There may be others in our group that may want to help too.

    Mares Icon, size Large

I never had a problem with the pouches ever accidentally falling out. I was routinely putting 10lb per side (max is 6kg/13lbs) and 5lb in each trim pouch (max 2.5kg/6.6lbs).

Pockets (for stuff) for BP/W (WTX harness)

I use X-shorts for use in the tropics. Either by themselves when water temps are warmer or over top of my 3mm when cooler. This way, I dive the same way with my x-shorts or my drysuit. This makes storing equipment identical for all situations.

Diver death in Lake Minnewanka, Alberta, Canada

I've been following this thread since it began. I would like to ask the moderators to move the diversion of the weight belt issue to a different forum. I'll apologize for the request if it offends anyone, but this thread was discuss the fatality at Lake Minnewanka. I am truely sorry for the...

    Rescue in a drysuit

I agree with the others. Use your drysuit and more importantly now how to complete a proper rescue with your buddy in a drysuit. Once or twice being dragged across the ground isn't going to wreck it, especially if it's a mud/dirt shore. It adds another element of complexity and makes it the...

DM (PADI) Equipment swap with buddy breathing

We did our equipment swap with blackout'd masks. We were told to solve our problems. My buddy was revealed to us just prior to the swap. We almost finished the drill and were one mask away from completing when my buddy bolted, leaving me with no idea where my buddy went with the only working...

Advice on fins for snorkel test

+1 for fins without booties. Also, I thought it was against standards to wear anything other than a swim suit. Although, I could be wrong if you are doing it in open water. I'd go for full foot fins, make sure you eat your bananas and stretch before you start. No booties means less...

    Fusion boots, Evo3 or ?

I went this route based on a suggestion on SB. I took my fins to the shoe store (lots of weird looks) and my wool hiking socks. I ended up with some clearance sales All-stars one size over my shoe size. I've put in ~20 dives and they work great. Didn't need to buy new fins either. Not sure...

    whites drysuits questions

Jimbo, PM me. I live in Calgary and another SB member, Hawkwood, does too. We both have Fusions. I got mine in June and put on 20-25 dives on it before the ice came. Regarding insulation: I dove Forget-me-not for a ~35 min dive, at 37F (90F air) with little more than 200g fleece pants...
