I ordered the Type II and didn't care for it. The handle on the backplace put too much pressure on the upper hoses. I switched over to the Halcyon backplate and it seems to be a perfect fit with the more rounder top. And I like the idea of putting Halcyon hardware on my Inspiration. :thumb:

Interesting. I would of thought extended it down would make the system too bottom heavy and cause problems accessing the tank valves.

My Inspiration is only 6 weeks old with 24 dives on it and and the inside of the handsets still appear new. We were told in class to flush out the handsets while working the buttons after every day of diving. I also dunk the entire unit in clean water for a while after a dive trip.

The first switch appears brand new and the other two are rusting. I wonder why the difference...

I assume it's adjustable. On my Inspiration the factory ADV requires a little work to activate and surely won't kick in on my normal breathing pattern. It seems perfect for me. (OTOH, I haven't compared to other units).

Congrats. After my first two pool sessions I was wondering if I made a big mistake, but my first OW dive was nice. With 17 CCR dives under my belt (boy am I a newbie), I just love the Inspiration. I don't care if it takes longer to setup, prep and clean up... my dives are nothing less...

What is the advantage of constructing a counterlung out of neoprene? Just wondering why some rebreathers use neoprene for the counterlung and others don't.

Maybe, but as a new CCR diver my previous OC experience came in damn handy when I was blowing around like a leaf in high current with up and down drafts. As I have done nasty current dives before on OC, I only needed to focus on the CCR. Class was stressful enough with the instructor...
