Trip Report Emerald Dive Charters Trip Report

Great report - for US based divers the least expensive way to see tigers.

    Best first regulator, DIY service

Apeks DS4 and XTX50 are an excellent choice. Easy to service. Service manuals are also readily available (www.frogkick.dk). Rock solid and deserved reputation in the tech community. You can buy the service kits in Europe without any difficulty. By the way, this also works without any problems in...

mount weights to Dive Rite SS XT LITE BACKPLATE and/or basic harness

Plastic vs steel buckles makes no difference for installing weight pockets on cam straps. If your cam strap has the appropriate tension when closed the weight pockets will sit bomb proof. It also does not affect cam strap durability. You'll live a long life if you outlast your cam straps.

    Oceanic Computers being Discontinued?

As always all comes down to personal preference. I have no interest in a download cable. I have found them ridiculously expensive and don't see the need for logging recreational dives. As far as the price difference to the Geo, I also would not spend an extra $200for the OCL but as I stated I...

    Oceanic Computers being Discontinued?

Not true - you can check the manual which explains how to change it. Battery is user replaceable. Changing the battery is easy but you do need a small screwdriver whereas with the Geo you can use a coin. I paid less than Geo MSRP. Really no downside compared to Geo if you can get it at the right...

    Oceanic Computers being Discontinued?

"BTW, did you mean OCi or OCL? I can only find an "OCi" computer not an "OCL" on Oceanic's website." Odd - I am wearing an OCL on my wrist right now. For some reason has not received much coverage. As mentioned same as a Geo 2 - which I also own - but smaller (true watch size) while retaining...

Wanted Wrist computer (smaller size), under $150

If you are interested in a Mares Puck I have a used one for sale with about 20 dives (can check exact number). Asking $80. The Puck is pretty small but it is thick. It is way more substantial than a watch. Computers similar in size to a watch unfortunately run significantly more than $150...

    Custom Wetsuits?

I also own a Wetwear. Fits like a glove but I had it fitted in person and came back for a second fitting before taking delivery. The neoprene is not unusually stiff. I do, however, agree that I do not find it significantly warmer than comparably thick suits that fit well. I had wanted a 5mm and...

    Diverite XT Travel wing bcd

I use the dive rite plastic screws to attach the wing to the grommets in the backplate. It helps with keeping everything lined up. Never used a stabilizer for the wing nor do my buddies. Don't notice any annoying roll, movement or such when diving. However, if you were to test stability and do a...

    Diverite XT Travel wing bcd

Love them. Also own halcyon and DSS. DIve Rite XT is my favorite partly because it is actually the most adaptable design of any wing i.e. goes with any backplate setup incl. Oxycheq ultra lite travel plate. Not sure what design constraints due to transpac tbone is talking about. I don't own...

    Suunto Vyper

I don't understand why there would not be a warranty. Everything they sell comes with a warranty. It may not be the manufacturer's but they match it and are quicker than many manufacturers if there is an issue. I know in the past I have seen threads about Suunto customer service being...

There's a bill in congress to ban shark feeding dives

That's why I said "basically no incidents". There have been two fatalities, one of them unclear i.e. may or may not have been a shark bite/attack. I did the dive where the other confirmed bite that tragically led to the death of the Austrian diver happened. You don't know what you are talking...

    Feed Great White Sharks

Saw that show. There was nothing scientific about it. No research. Nothing but a wild guess that they presented as a fact. Was quite annoyed when I saw them misrepresenting their opinion as fact. Apparently they fooled some who confused it with results of scientific research.

There's a bill in congress to ban shark feeding dives

Here we go again. Shark feeding has probably done more for changing the image of sharks than anything else. Bahamas have protected sharks because of shark (feeding) tourism. All the negatives and comparisons with gators and bears may seem logical but are simply not supported by facts. Thousands...

    Where best to shop online?

I have had nothing but great experiences spending thousands for my diving family with leisure pro. They are also local for me and I buy online and in the store. I have also spend lots of money with divegearexpress (DGX) starting in their DiveRiteExpress days. I really like them for basics and...

Wes Skiles' Widow Looking For 25 Million from Lamartek

What are you drinking? I'd like some, too. I guess when you are part of a broken system it's hard to see. A good outcome does not make your case. I read your earlier post that stated that our system is the best - far from it. You lack perspective. There is no other developed country with an...

DGX's value BP/W package and 8' diameter steel tanks?
