Anyone running daylong charters there? It's a long way to go for just one tech dive.

DPV 1 course report with Steve Blanchard May 2,3,10 QC/ON, Canada

It's not ideal but it's not that bad either, maybe 5 seconds each way. I hear you about the weighting.

DPV 1 course report with Steve Blanchard May 2,3,10 QC/ON, Canada

Lol, no, not the nose clip. That could make for a very interesting dive if forgotten.

Mine gets into the silt so I clip it on the line.

Ron Lee's Personal Rules for Diving in Cozumel

What does gender have to do with it? Wouldn't you help an elderly man or anyone who seems to need a hand?

Ron Lee's Personal Rules for Diving in Cozumel

I do that too but as a matter of practicality, not "chivalry" for its own sake. I'm significantly taller than she so I'm more visible to idiot drivers on their cells. No one's likely to want to pull me into a van either. Diving, I keep watch on my teammates equally, at least until one has a...

Where did that happen? I'm curious about the details. The shark incident - was that Gilliam?

Taking GPS coordinates of a site... captain's permission?

Failure to disclose prior to the start of a trip should be grounds for a successful chargeback.

    Vehicle recommendation?

The Santa Fe is an early front runner - the rear seats unbolt and the underfloor storage area is easily removed, leaving an almost flush cargo area. It's significantly lower than other vehicles whose seats fold down flush, so handling and visibility are probably better when loaded, plus there's...

    Vehicle recommendation?

My buddy had a Forrester but said it couldn't support enough gear for two scooter divers on a multiday trip. I never tried it so I can't speak from personal experience.

    Vehicle recommendation?

Lol, not really. There's no direct replacement for the Element but it appears SUVs whose seats are bolted in place may work. I'd have to have a custom plate of some sort made to create a flat floor with multiple tie down points, but it doesn't seem impossible. The difficulty and time to...

    Vehicle recommendation?

Yeah, it's a great vehicle from what I recall, AJ, but to that loading list add two child seats and you can see my dilemma. Henrik, thanks for the suggestions - I'll take a closer look at them. The Element is a good choice but capacity is just a little too low, plus 2011 was the last model year.

    Vehicle recommendation?

I'm looking for a daily driver with capacity to haul enough gear for two cave divers with scooters. Nothing's standing out, but the requirements are pretty demanding. It needs to have good ground clearance (8" or more); a strong, flat cargo area; and secure points for tying down doubles in...

    Martha's Quarry

I don't know the current status, but they were in a part of the quarry outside of Fred's control when I was there. I would recommend calling him for current information.

    Martha's Quarry

Martha's is still open although the property dispute is ongoing as of last month. Fred has installed a new access point and part of the underwater area is currently off-limits.
