Back on topic ... We took 4 guests on a whale shark tour today and saw 3 whale sharks, so hopefully the season here in Southern Leyte is back on track.

There's still a limited flight schedule at the moment, but if the times work out there's no problem with flying to Tacloban and getting either public or private transport down to Padre Burgos.

Padre Burgos has some great, deserted beaches and wonderful diving.

For a combination of very quiet and superb diving, check out Padre Burgos in Southern Leyte. In July/August you'll miss the whale sharks so it will be even quieter - and the viz will be even better.

From Malapascua you can arrange a private boat over to Leyte and then head down to Padre Burgos for whale sharks (snorkeling only), excellent macro, great walls and one of the best night dives for critters anywhere.

If you have only 7 - 10 days you should settle on no more than 2 out of your 3 options, otherwise you will lose a lot of time travelling. Much better to fly than take a ferry from or back to Manila. Fly to Tacloban for Sogod Bay, Cebu for Malapascua or direct to Dumaguete.
