    Odd ear fullness again

Interesting coincidence! Isn't Cathedral I frikkin' fantastic?!?!?! I don't think it was the Shotgun, though...didn't feel any pressure changes going through that marvelous place. Neither did my wife. I'll post what my ENT says after the audiogram on Thursday... FYI -- do you recognize my...

    Odd ear fullness again

Hello! my ENT said my tympanic membrane is the source of the issue. He didn't think I had otitis media with effusion and he thinks that the stretching of the TM that is involved with diving, will, in some individuals, create odd "memory" movements when swallowing or changes in pressure that...

    Recommendations in Leeward Islands, 1/2022

Hey Doc! Thanks so much for your input -- that's really good info., and we'll likely not do that, then! In that case, what do you know about the Leeward Islands. Any recommendations?

    Odd ear fullness again

Question: wouldn't the nurse practitioner who looked at my ears on Monday have seen ear wax? She said my ears looked clear...

    Odd ear fullness again

Thanks again @Ucarkus. I don't think it's wrong or late equalization, as I'm on top of it as soon as I release the air from my BCD. I never went diving with a blocked ear -- always by a few hours after a dive, and then definitely by the next morning, any congestion would resolve and my ears...

    Odd ear fullness again

Thank you very much! It's something I've always experienced when diving -- fluid seep after even the first dive of a dive trip. I took loratadine those first several days and everything was ok. I felt fluid seep but my ears were clear. I'll see what the ENT says tomorrow and reply. Again...

    Odd ear fullness again

Thank you @Doctorfish ! That sounds about right. I just googled it and it's along the lines of otitis media with effusion (no infection). You say you've had this several times...is that typically at the end of 7 days of diving? I don't want to schedule dive trips and worry about otitis media on...

    Odd ear fullness again

Thank you again for your reply. My guess is it's clear because the fluid is deep within. I'll find out more on Thursday and let you know.

    Recommendations in Leeward Islands, 1/2022

To the Community: We're chartering a boat and sailing in the Leeward Islands in 4.5 months and could use some recommendations for dive sites, shops, etc., if you please! There will be 3 divers, renting our own tanks & weights when/where necessary, so we can just dive off our boat, although...

    Odd ear fullness again

Thank you @Ucarkus -- excellent link. Is there a particular decongestant that is preferred for this, such as pseudoephedrine vs. phenylephrine? Any idea what the fluid may be and why an initial examination shows my ears are "clear"? It must be deep within, eh?

    Odd ear fullness again

Thank you Imla. Any idea on the fluid source/location? Mucus? Inside cochlea? I realize it's just a guess on your part but I'm really curious. FYI -- I just made an appointment with an ENT doc...

    Odd ear fullness again

To the Community -- Just returned from AWESOME diving in Maui and on my last dive my ears got congested and now, four days later, they're still congested and "full" and popping and not clearing all the way. I never had any pain while or after diving although I typically have some difficulty...

Help reopening logbook with SmartTRAK, please.

Hi people -- just getting back into diving after a little hiatus, and going to Hawaii in 2 months (stoked!) I was able to reinstall SmartTRAK 2.09 and can see my logbook but can't get it to open. It asks to "Convert version 1.0212 to 1.0213", which I do with a new name but there's nothing in...

    Good set-up for a newbie?

scubadada: I heartily agree! I wound up diving 13x in Belize (FANTASTIC) and bringing my camera on ~ 1/2 of those dives, and definitely NOT the first dive of the trip. Got some great photos and movies, too! What I recommend to other newbies is to ensure their buoyancy control is excellent...

"Best" P5100 settings for a newbie...

Hello all -- just got a refurbished P5100 and a Fantasea housing and I leave for Belize in 6 days -- woo-hoo! I'm a newbie to UW photog. but an experienced photographer (semi-pro. -- I used to shoot weddings and I'm a good portrait photog.). I've read alcina's post and it's a good...

    Good set-up for a newbie?

To the Commnunity: I have ~ 20 dives under my belt and I want a simple set-up for starting underwater photography. I was thinking of a Canon SD880IS with the Canon underwater housing as it has a 3" LCD and an "Underwater" setting. Comments? I could use a little guidance, please, namely...
