    Lost: GoPro at Copper Cove

Lost: GoPro in underwater housing and head mounting straps. Lost at Copper Cove. This was borrowed for a commercial video shoot and I feel terrible for losing it. If found, please let me know. A company logo appears in the video, I can provide the name on the logo for verification. Thanks!

    Powell River Air Fills?

Yep, Alpha was the first place I went. They're gone.

    Powell River Air Fills?

Does anyone know if there is currently a place to get fills in Powell River? A couple months ago I went for a long weekend of camping and diving and was a tad disappointed to find that the self-proclaimed scuba capital of Canada didn't have a dive shop. The shops listed online are no longer in...

Hot dip zinc coming off of new tank? Help!

I've just run into a similar problem. I bought a couple used 100s and they BARELY passed hydro. Then when the hydro guy stamped them, a chunk of the outer zinc coating crumbled off. I've been advised by Worthington to not dive them and am now awaiting word on what to do. Hopefully they will...

    Dogfish sightings.

I'm coming up on dive #600 since 2008. I have seen a grand total of 2 dogfish over all those dives. One at Whytecliff and one at Henderson Pt. I'd hardly call that being "overrun."

Diving Howe Sound Reefs and Islands book - on sale now!

The Underwater Council of BC has just released an excellent book detailing everything you could possibly want to know about diving Howe Sound by boat (including 3D maps of each site). All proceeds from book sales go directly towards installing and maintaining mooring buoys in Howe Sound to...

    Shark photography

This is probably a dumb question but I have to ask... I'm heading to Maui next week and I'm looking forward to seeing my first sharks in the wild (aside from the local dogfish and ratfish here in the PNW). It sounds like I'm likely to see whitetips and grey reef sharks and I'm curious to know...

    Oregon Dive Park

Thanks very much for the info. I didn't end up bringing my gear on the trip. I guess I'll have to go back. I can't believe the size of the waves along the coast down there! I've never been so grateful for Vancouver Island - it keeps our ocean access nice and calm.

    Oregon Dive Park

Has anyone got more info about this dive park? I'm camping there next week and am just trying to decide if it's worth bringing my gear.

Free BBQ at Whytecliff - June 2nd

I'm sure there will be lots of potential buddies hanging around but we don't have a specific dive planned for the day. If I can escape from behind the bbq I'd love to join you (or anyone else) for a dive.

Get paid to ride the chamber

I've been asked to help find participants for a hypoxia study in the SFU hyperbaric chamber. They are looking for male volunteers between 19 and 50 years of age who are non smokers, willing to come to the lab for 4 Saturdays, full days to be in the chamber. It pays 200.00. This is a great...

    2nd stage necklace

I've been using a shock cord necklace for a while now and it's great but the necklace is a bit floaty. When swimming backwards or holding still in a current, the necklace tends to come up over my head and float in front of my face. My solution to this problem has been to put on the necklace THEN...

Iona Beach pipeline / breakwater ??

I believe that area is SUPER shallow (as can be seen at low tide). I'd love to find a dive site close to home but I don't know if Iona will do it. It's been a while since I've been to the end. Maybe it would be worth while to venture out there at an extreme low tide and see how it looks. If it...

    Diving Larabee State Park?

Has anyone dove here? The park website lists diving as an activity and above water it looks very promising but I'd hate to hump my gear down to the beach to find only mud. Any comments about what the bottom and currents are like would be much appreciated. I decided at the last minute to camp...

    Ansell Wolf Eel

That's the guy. I know a few years ago there were two of them living together and there were even eggs in the den at one point. Not sure if the lady moved out or moved on.

    Ansell Wolf Eel

There have been rumors going around that the wolf eel at Ansell was killed by a spearfisherman. Well, we saw him yesterday so he's apparently not dead, although he didn't seem very happy. He was laying in the sand not really doing much at all. Since wolf eels mate for life, it is possible that...

    bio-luminescence

I just got back from Kelvin - the lights ARE on. There must be a sale on Warbonnets right now as well, there were 3 completely in the open within 30 feet of eachother. Oh and vis was around 40 feet. Hooray for fall diving!
