    Cave Diving in Australia

Oh and whilst Mexico would be awesome, the advantage of doing it in mount gambier is you get the introduction to the local sites and meet some buddies who you can keep diving with. You will want a drysuit if you don’t already. Some do it in wetsuits. Very few.

    Cave Diving in Australia

Rubens is definitely still teaching! I am a cave diver. It is well worth getting involved. There are plenty of good instructors and you are right to check out that list on the CDAA page. Some more active than others. I’d suggest you give a few a call and have a chat to them about how they...

Diving in Sydney area, Mid/Late March - Suggestions?

Strongly suggest you consider a trip up from Sydney to south west rocks dive centre. Grey nurse sharks, rays, turtles you name it. Fantastic spot. I think it’s about a 5-6 hr drive from Sydney. They have accom as well.

    Weedy Seadragons

Glad you enjoyed it!! Were there any smooth rays hanging around? One of best dives at flinders was actually on low tide. Nice photos too. They are beautiful.

    Weedy Seadragons

I’ve just checked the forecast for this Saturday. It is a bit of a sotherky si may not be ideal for flinders. But give it a shot. If it’s too messy, try Portsea pier which is about 20-30 mins away. Usually weedys there too. Just watch the swell there. And I think there is a broken ladder...

    Weedy Seadragons

Elmo has covered it perfectly. And aquatic adventures is really easy to get to just off the freeway. They are new owners so the gear should all be in pretty good nick too. Post here when you’re diving, if I’m around I might join you.

    Weedy Seadragons

As has already been mentioned flinders pier just out of Melbourne. Whilst you can’t guarantee sighting of sea creatures you can pretty much can guarantee weedy sighting at flinders. What you can’t guarantee is the weather conditions, it’s a pretty open spot, so allow a couple of days for...

Great Barrier Reef - what are the options?

I would really recommend spirit or mike ball. Yes it is more expensive but it is absolutely worth it. There was a trip review recently where someone went with the cheaper boats and were really disappointed. Unfortunately they didn’t take the advice, or weren’t able to and just wanted to dive...

Tech diving around El Nido and Coron

Try rocksteady, they seemed to be the only other tech friendly one when I was looking. Their emails were helpful too.

    Far north gbr

Bougainville was fantastic, but bare in mind it was many years ago that I dived it. However it’s rare for a boat to get there due to requirement for certain conditions. So I would not use that a basis for a decision. Why not try the fat north and see what’s up there!

    First trip to Cairns

You were very lucky to get out to bouganville!! It’s quite rare that conditions allow it.

    Dive Into Ambon

Barb and kaj are fantastic!! I knew them from KBR also. Hold out and wait for their reply if you can. I would love to dive with them again. They know how to run a dive resort.

New diver spending 5 weeks in Indonesia...yeah!

If you can, fit Komodo in, once you’re a couple of weeks in and have some more dives up. It’s really is incredible and not to be missed. For the most part you can avoid the currents - just listen to the guides and do what they tell you. And if it’s looking like a roaring one, just sit it out...

Australia - Limited time so what to choose between Sydney and GBR

Another consideration - drive up from Sydney and dive south west rocks with the grey nurse sharks. It’s awesome.
