Hey PHD, I noticed you're in Defuniak. If you're around the weekend of the 17-19th, I'll be at Vortex with a big group led by my Course Director. The group is staying at a hotel in Defuniak (me and a friend are staying in the fifth wheel at vortex), and we're all going out to eat Saturday night...

Expect mid-70's for water temp. Typically a 3mm should be fine, but it can be hard to say with liveaboards. On a liveaboard, you may end up doing 3-4 or more dives in one day, which can start to wear at your personal comfort level and tolerance. By that 4th dive it can start to feel really cold...

To answer your question: a plain dive skin will not affect insulation at all. It is worn under the suit purely for ease of donning/doffing and comfort. I wear one for just those reasons. Makes a world of difference. Now if you are wearing a Pinnacle Merino-lined suit or a Mares Saffire-lined...
