I'm headed to Bermuda at the end of March for a MUCH needed vacation. I realize this is the off season but would still like to dive a few days. I'm ok with cold water too. I emailed a few dive ops but notice island time and off season may apply. Will someone be running in March? Trip is already...
Lake superior's north shore is great and many wrecks you can do from shore. Otherwise charter is a great option. Isle royal is also up past that neck of the woods- I haven't been there personally but many venture there annually.
If that's all you are looking for:
My suit: $400 (White's demo suit used maybe twice)
Alterations, new seals, and cuffs: $200
Hood: $0 (cut the skirt off wetsuit hood)
Dry Gloves: $10 (Viking style just pull over the cuffs)
Light weight undergarment: $40 (end of season tent sale)
Heavy...
I got lucky with my drysuit purchase. Just so happened my LDS had a previous demo suit that was in stock as a rental and never rented. For size comparison. I'm 5"4' on a good day, curvy with 35/30/35- my Whites back zip is an XS. I will say you DO really want to try them on- if you get one too...
I'd go new- see if you can locate a last year's model that's new from the factory- it will save you money in the long run. Definitely don't skimp on undergarments- you seem to be a polar bear so you'd probably be fine layering under armer and 1 or 2 fleece layers depending on how much room your...
I'd go computer- you will get a lot of use out of it. Being familiar with your computer will also be a good advantage while filming underwater (photographer here, and while I don't do underwater yet, I know how I am on land and getting the shot sometimes takes priority over your situational...
I dive with tech and rec divers and love it when they get new gear or have an experience to share. I get to learn and have fun with my friends!
I am currently transitioning from a rec to a more tech set up over the year, because of personal experience and choices on where I want my diving...
If you want a packable BC, go for a BP/W- I have a Hybrid- Oceanic Hera and that thing does not pack small even though it's a size small and it is weighy. Also considering a personal switch to a BP/W with drysuit diving to allow for more "breathing room" and better weight distribution...
It's been a while since I made eggs to go that way, but add a little salsa and ummmmm. You can also scramble eggs and put into a cup to go with or without silverware.
A pretty quick and easy one is tortilla pizzas- what ever toppings and you could do pizza or BBQ sauce. Individually made over the stove or grill for a quick hot meal with some fruit salad for a side.
So did the buddy not see that they were having equipment trouble? Even if you are the lead diver you do have to check behind you/next to you frequently. I would think if I saw that I would grab hold and assist if necessary.
Kind of like diving with a dive flag- making sure your buddy isn't...
LOL your dive buddy sounds like mine in the ocean. Get in the ocean and I'm a fin grabber. If you get too far away I pull you back by your fins. It's not as enjoyable if your the buddy who has to keep up, keeps tabs and lets your buddy know they have ADD. You should have your wife dive with...
I'm not so sure I'd agree with that. I dive a neoprene seal and I'm a little lady. Actually I think it's the smallest neoprene seal they make that fits me just as it should. I am interested in the silicone reviews as well, but have been very happy with the neoprene.
You can probably ask 100 people their response to a certain scenario and get a wide variety of answers.
Did your class teach you rules of diving?
1. Never hold your breath
2. You are responsible for your own safety- dive at your own risk.
3. don't be complacent- do a buddy check
Now in any...
