Shooting the Canon EOS M in cold water with various lenses...

I've been shooting the Canon EOS M underwater for just over a year now. A few weeks ago, I was on a dive trip to Northern Vancouver Island, and ended up using all 3 lenses at my disposal, specifically the EF-S 60 mm macro (sometimes with the Nauticam SMC wet lens for the really small stuff), the...

A few pics from Port Hardy/Browning Pass trip aboard the Nautilus Swell

Our group recently (October 2014) did a trip aboard the Nautilus Swell out of Port Hardy, Northern Vancouver Island, to dive the famous Browning Pass and nearby areas. Despite the inclement weather, we had a great time! As was mentioned in other threads, the Nautilus Swell will cease operating...

    Lost hood at Kelvin

Hey gang, I seem to have left my diving hood at Kelvin last night (Sept 15). It's a Sea-Tux brand. It is likely somewhere between the stairs and the fence at the entrance. If anyone happens to see it, I would greatly appreciate getting it back. Drop me a message if you happen to find it...

Canon EOS M with Nauticam housing — First Review (and compared to my S100)

For the past 20 months, I have been using the Canon S100 with RecSea housing, and I have gotten some great pics with it. I dive a lot, and I did about 300 dives with it. The housing has stood up very well, despite quite a bit of use and abuse. I took so many photos with it that I actually burned...

    Sola 800 won't charge!

I picked up a Sola 800 photo light about 6 months go, and was loving it, until today, when I noticed it won't charge. The green light on the charger comes on, but nothing on the light to indicate charging. The light still works, it still has some charge left over from yesterday's dive, but that...

Browning Pass Hideaway - a few photos, and video link

Ok, as I just mentioned in another thread (http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/western-canada/436641-trip-report-browning-pass-hideaway.html), the diving here is absolutely fabulous. I judge my dives by the quality of the photos I get from them, and based on that, the diving here is world class. I...

Video of 5 orcas attacking a seal!

While we were on a scuba diving trip in Browning Pass last week, we were lucky enough to come upon a pod of orcas near Hussar Point. We then noticed they were harassing a seal, seemingly toying with it, then gave it multiple tail-slaps. They seemed to be showing the smallest one how to hunt...

Anilao & Dumaguete: quick trip report and slideshow

I'm a bit slow to report, but on my last trip to the Philippines (Jan/Feb), I decided to try two places I hadn't been to before, Anilao, and Dumaguete. Both were great! In Anilao, I stayed at Club Ocellaris. Accommodations were basic but adequate, food was good, and the diving was spectacular...

Looking for a good fill on my HP steel 100's

I know it's hard to get a good fill out of steel HP tanks, but I can't help but notice my buddy gets great fills from his LDS, I think they crank them up to 3700 or so, and are always at 3500 by the time they cool down. As for me, both LDS near me seem unwilling to crank them up over 3500...

S95 vs. G12? Ikelite vs. Fisheye?

I've had a SeaLife DC1000 for the past year and a half, and have taken a lot of pictures, but am dissatisfied with it for various reasons, and ready to move up to something better. I have settled on a Canon compact, but can't decide between the S95 or the G12. I have read a lot here and...

Hey All, I'm looking for a dive buddy for this Saturday, July 17. Anyone up for a couple of dives? I was thinking Kelvin, or maybe even a day trip up to Tuwanek. I was there yesterday, it is quite nice, wouldn't mind doing it again. I don't usually get a chance to go out on Saturdays, this is...

A few pics from Kelvin Grove, Dec 26, 2009

Here are a few pics from a couple of dives on Dec 26. This was my first time using my new underwater camera (SeaLife DC1000). I still have lots to learn, but these are my first feeble efforts! Viz was about 40 feet. Water was 8 Celsius, but only 5 C shallow, so we actually got chilly at the...
