If you're using digital take more than one shot as what appears on the LCD may not look so good when you enlarge it.
Faster shutter speed and greater f number will help but you want to make sure that you don't blow out or under expose the rest of the image too much. But play around, what...
As you're looking to use the camera on land to begin with, don't want to spend a small fortune and want to have some versatility as to what you take pictures of, and most people do, especially starting out, then you'd be better off going for a lens with a wider range of zoom. The kit lens makes...
I think that D70 seems to have opened up the market for new Nikon users by making an entry level DSLR more affordable. I've seen more Nikons of late than anything else.
Would recommend Asia Divers (http://www.asiadivers.com). Nice resort in El Galleon, damned good instructors and guides and they also have use of the pier so you don't have to wade through the poop at the edge of Sabang beach.
As regards advanced divers they tend to let you have your head and...
You could try calling or mailing McHale at Oceanicfocus to see if he can sort you out. He has the housing you mentioned listed on his site

Has anyone created a mount for an Ikelite housing that allows a spotter light to be attached without having to use one of the strobe arms? I'm just trying to see what the options are before investing in something retail
Thanks
Some other notes on the set up of the 5060 where mine differed from Bbarnes.
When I was using mine I had the WB set to auto as if the strobe is being used so it
should be able to compensate correctly.
I'd also left the AF illuminator offas it can spook some fish, especially at night...
Does anyone know how to remove the manual inflator/deflator button on a standard Mares ergo inflator? The power inflator is easy enough to remove but I can't remove the manual inflator/deflator and there's some grit trapped in there that I need to get rid of as it's preventing the button from...
Thanks to you both for the info.
The camera can bracket the flash exposure down two stops though I don't know if that'll work with the sync cord but I'll give it a try
And thanks for the advise on the black background shots Alcina, that was one of the things I was wondering how to do with...
Yesterday I moved myself into a new realm of underwater photography by finally retiring my Oly 5060 and getting an Ikelite housing for my 350 D. All is good and I've been playing with it to see how it all works. One thing that I've quickly noticed however is that with the sync cord to my Sea&Sea...
If I hadn't recieved an email from a friend today I'd be in total agreement with you but Olympus have just upped the stakes on this. Check out http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/news/2006a/nr060126e330e.cfm
I found this little critter in the Philippines this week. I have to admit that I didn't even know there were sea spiders until I found it.
I've spent the last couple of days reading up on them but can't get a species name for this particular one. Is there a sea spider reference out there...
Another thing to be aware of if you plan to move to a DSLR is that you won't be able to use the screen to set up shots, you'll need to use the view finder instead.
It was at Pualu Tioman in West Malaysia. I've seen plenty of scorpion fish there over the years but never one with this colouring. I've asked around a few friends and instructors who've dived there quite a bit and none of them have ever seen one like this either
I've recently taken to windsurfing, so slightly different again, but I it's a great way of spending a weekend when I don't get to dive. Might be a better alternative for you than surfing as I hear the balancing is easier.
Like everyone has said, very different sports but that's a good thing...
I like the Michael Aw book, it's a good intro, it's cheap and it's a nice size so it fits easily into a dive bag for reference. The pages are colour coded to allow you find what you're looking for a bit easier.
Mathieu Meur who co-authors it also wrote the PADI speciality on digital photography.
Seems like quite a few but some have been discontinued http://www.digideep.com/english/digital/photo/camera/Olympus/C-3000Zoom/27/91
Might be best to aim for a PT-10 if you can get one
