I did a solo dive at the Prescott docks last weekend (infront of the old fort) if that's the same area as your asking? No float is required, 20' - 25' max, 35 deg but major silt which compares to Innerkip for those familar with Innerkip. Although not knowing the area I didn't venture to far...
The Patriot is not a compact BC or suitable for diving with aluminum 80's so I would avoid it for what your planning on. The Patriot can be rigged and probably should be used for doubles or a steel tank due to having a 50lb lift, over kill and difficult to dump air at times as Aquabella stated...

Sunday turned out to be a great day! Finally got to meet some others from the board and get a couple of nice dives in as well.
