    Gulf Coast Dive Society

It looks like some time ago the U.S. northern gulf coast folks move to the Gulf Coast Dive Society Facebook group. Does anyone know if that group is still active?

Lessons to be learned-Death in Palau

I can't say enough about my past instructors. They were passionate about diving, about keeping students alive, and they were independent so they weren't obligated to sales in the dive shop. That said, the training I'd prefer to see more of would include instructors really testing your...

    Night dives

I've done a number of dives in these conditions. First, multiple lights are a must. Second, maintaining position in the water column is a must since you may have no point of reference beyond your depth gage. Third, in low vis, you can hide or shut off your light to find your buddy, but you...

Given the choices, which would you pick?

Hi Mason. I'm not familiar with those models, but have you researched the algorithms on each? You can sometimes find info on how conservative the algorithms are, and some even let you make adjustments. Just my 2 cents...

Water as weight rather than lead?

As I understand it, the L1 Lagrange Point makes for an excellent dive. But you're better off with a Jim Suit for that one. ;)

Number of Dives not Quality Count

10 years ago, I was active and felt pretty experienced for the type of diving I was doing. I had five years under my belt, but felt confident. I just re-entered the water this past Saturday after a 6 year break and felt like a beginner again (at least for a few moments anyway). Point is, I...

Water as weight rather than lead?

BKP, too funny. On a serious note, I never could understand how a liquid is uncompressable. Perhaps someone could explain that one. Did they ban a troll?

Water as weight rather than lead?

I think you're right. It's my understanding James Bond would put his mask on his head as a sign of distress.... a secret signal to "Q" that he left his "water belt" back on the boat. I'm sorry you guys, I just can't seem to stop. Physics humor is just too darn fun. :rofl3: I'm going to...

Water as weight rather than lead?

I try to avoid witches, and prefer diving with newts instead.
