    UAE East Coast Temperatures

The cancelation of the Malta trip was a heartbreaker for me. It has been on my list of dive destinations for quite a while due to the amazing wrecks.

    PADI necessary hidden skills

I am not sure what you mean as there are no "hidden skills" in any PADI course. All skills are laid out for the student so that they know what to expect. There is nothing that is sprung on them at the last second because it is "hidden" but maybe I am misunderstanding you.

Coroners Report. What do you think!

It is actually a true statement. I have read and participated in many discussions here where the talk was about ending the CESA altogether. I am not sure why you took this so personally as you were never mentioned. It was a very generic comment about the instructor discussions of the...

Diver dies trapped in wreck in Gran Canaria

I agree. The story scared the crap out of me as I read it. I would love to know more about this

    Katana 2

I must have missed you stating something about instruction. TBF, I saw a couple people mention and did not take note of who it was so I just generalized.

NASE, NAUI, SDI, RAID, and PSS why don't you want new instructors?

I crossed over to RAID and could not be happier about the experience and with RAID as an organization. As for @paultoomer , what a great guy. He came here to sort out an issue with his training organization and I believe that says a lot. I personally have messaged Paul on FB and thanked him...

American Tourists Detained for Accidently Sailing Into BVI Waters

What sticks out to me is that the Captain realized his error and had turned back towards U.S. waters when they were then stopped and boarded. Why take them into custody? It was clearly a navigational error and when it was realized, they turned back. They were not trying to enter BVI and were...

    Katana 2

While I have not had the chance to dive the Katana 2, I do teach sidemount and dive that config exclusively unless I am on the rebreather. I love seeing people state that they want to take a course with a reputable SM instructor. Most think about the skills and feel they can learn them on...

    Perdix AI with 2 xmitters?

Hi Captain Jim...I also dive with two gray and no issues. On a side note, I believe you did the CDTC with my Course Director, Laurent.

How many wetsuits do you have?

I own two....well, technically three. I have two 3 mil suits here. A Fourth Element Proteus II and a Deep 6. The third is a Bare Reactive 7 mil back in the states that I will never wear again. The suit itself is very high quality but if I need that much neoprene to stay warm, I am diving dry...

A new kind of long stay visa

I stayed in Kamala and scheduled a day of diving with @stevenl . Had a great dive trip to Phi Phi even if it was a large cattle boat. Wonderful guide and our internet in Kamala was top notch. I watched Netflix seamlessly at night.

Coming Soon – PADI® Certification Cards Transition to PADI eCards™

I should have been more clear. It is my impression based on his half-truths and tactics. I do not know him but I do know I would never trust him. On a side note, I like promoting diving and not the training organizations I teach under. The organization is a tool. The main sell is diving itself.

Coming Soon – PADI® Certification Cards Transition to PADI eCards™

It isn't just PADI that certifies to 18 meters. Most certify between 18-20 meters (60 65 feet). Most also have an AOW course. You are trying to bash PADI but using arguments that can be made of SSI, SDI, NAUI, etc. Also, specialties such as coral reef conservation or digital underwater...

The guy in that video is about as trustworthy as Charles Ponzi.

Holding a safety stop - the effect of breathing/weighting

If you are looking into going the tech path, I would take the Hydros and the Seawing Novas off that list. I find the Hydros to be a very expensive piece of kit that can easily be replaced with a much cheaper BP/W that works better than the Hydros. The Novas are popular among recreational...

    Fins for tech diving

I dive in 3mm wetsuit or less (rashguard and tech shorts) all year long. I switch back and forth between my Deep 6 Eddy fins and my UTD Precision fins no matter the cylinder config I am using. I dive, twinset, STBM and SM using those fins. The Eddy fins are a bit more comfortable due to the...

    Taming the long hose

When tech diving, which is what the video is discussing, I use a can light. Normally I would tuck the hose under the can but since my can is a short one (Orcatorch D620) it does not hold it well enough. This is why i tuck it into my belt. In this config and in STMB, I have never had my long...
