Just switched to drysuit & air consumption has gone up

There are two main strategies with a drysuit: - either dive with the valve fully open, then you just use the size of the undersuit to provide enough bulk to keep warm - either close partially or more fully the valve and keep it well inflated to keep warmer I won’t argue about the pros and...

Just switched to drysuit & air consumption has gone up

I had the same experience than you OP. Like everyone said, it took me a while to get comfortable and even then it is more in drysuit+cold water than in a wetsuit in warm water.

Oh no! My 72s are too small for tech classes! :(

Does that mean you are incentivised to find tiny but strong buddies, so you have less reserve to carry? :p

    Dive sites near Southampton, UK.

Another vote for Swanage and Portland. Unfortunately like @Wibble said, Swanage Boat Charters and Divers Down will close at the end of the month for winter. You could drive to Porthkerris Divers next summer, you can stay there and either dive from the shore or book a place on their boat, if...

Do you really understand your computer, or is it a threat to you?

I’ll make sure to keep that in mind when planning

Do you have use a compressor at home to do the mixing from the banks?

Where should I start to approach the rebreather world

I have done a pool dive with an AP CCR but it was only a 1m deep pool at a dive show so you couldn’t get a feeling of how CCR works with buoyancy and the unit was already assembled. I’ll look into this, thanks. Would be useful to do the prep so I know what I am getting into before to pay...

Do you really understand your computer, or is it a threat to you?

A few years ago, during a class, we went slightly past the NDL because one of the students made a mess while trying to lay a line (that was a recreational SSI Wreck class) Even though I had read the manual of my computer, I felt anxious because, at the time, I had never went past the NDL. It...

Do you really understand your computer, or is it a threat to you?

Holy necromancy 😂 The previous reply was from 2004. I used to have a Suunto transmitter and hated it, it would disconnect and be fussy to connect. I have an AI transmitter for a Shearwater that I use only for statistics and it never failed so far in about 100 dives I used it.

Where should I start to approach the rebreather world

What would have been a better choice for the GUE rig in your opinion? What do you dive for CCR out of curiosity?

Where should I start to approach the rebreather world

Out of curiosity what would be your prep time if you dived tomorrow: What do you do the day before and how long does it take? What has to be done on the day of the dive and how much prep time you need? What do you need to do on the boat before the dive? I am quite meticulous and wouldn’t skip...

What are the two hours of prep time required for a CCR?

    AnotherThreadAboutCOanalyzers

    Using the same logic, the thresholds should be: - 5 /1.01 = 4.95 - 5 / 1.05 = 4.76 - 5 / 1.1 = 4.54 Because if you measure 4.54 + or - 10% then you are anywhere between 4.54 * 0.9 and 4.54 *1.1. So for the purpose of testing for CO you’d take the most conservative value which is to assume...

    Can underwater ammo explode?

Some died in Germany picking up a grenade (so an UXO) underwater recently: https://scubaboard.com/community/threads/diver-recovers-ww2-grenade-from-ossiacher-see-dies-in-explosion.613016/

3 unaccounted for after a flooded magnesite mine 'Maria Concordia' dive in Poland

About the state of mines, I have never been in caves or mines but I have an interest in doing it in the future, so trying to read about it. While following Facebook groups about other mines, I have sometimes noticed posts complaining about the state of the wood/timber underground but I have...

3 unaccounted for after a flooded magnesite mine 'Maria Concordia' dive in Poland

I assumed that they caused the low viz during the incident or that it happened after they entered and caused the incident.

How to answer "what is your highest certification level"?

Well I am pretty sure English is not the national language of Mexico. But does it matter? That’s how it is used and the meaning of words evolve over time … Even Wikipedia has an article to clarify it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_(word) I have no bone in this, I am French :)
