    Peace Dive Boat on NCIS

That’s true. They could always come up here to Bodega Bay, our harbor is pretty Alaska-ish.

    Peace Dive Boat on NCIS

I saw the same show and wondered the same thing, could that really be the Peace? Interesting how they chose Ventura instead of something closer to HW. Maybe filming permits are easier to get and cheaper?

    Rejuvenating the Cool Vintage

You can use many things as dollies to back up the ding being worked out. Generally the dings will always be on the convex surface of the cover. I’ve used my wooden work bench as a back up or “dolly” and a rounded punch on the inside over the high spot of the ding, then gently tapping the punch...

    Rejuvenating the Cool Vintage

Start with some of your stainless cooking bowls in the kitchen. They always seem to have dings. Practice makes perfect.

Anti-Fogging Treatments for New Masks. (a comparison of techniques)

I don’t know about adding some sort of treatment to make glass anti fogging. All I know about is to make the glass as clean as possible (removal of all silicone based chemicals in the manufacturing process), which as I understand it is what causes glass to fog and makes it difficult for water to...

Mares or OMS - Cant decide for the life of me....

Get the Mares. Better waist buckle, better crotch strap system, no chest strap, no stupid padding, better wing for sure, no contest. The Mares looks to be set up Hogarthian style which is what you want. I don’t know what the OMS is supposed to be but it certainly isn’t Hog that’s for sure.

Anti-Fogging Treatments for New Masks. (a comparison of techniques)

I use a little Bon Ami cleanser. Wet the mask, sprinkle some in, work it around with a paper towel and rinse it out well. Bon Ami will get glass cleaner than any other method. It will also work to remove even the most stubborn water spots and mineral deposits on automotive glass (on any glass)...

New diver BP/W and weight distribution questions for cold water

Adjust the crotch strap so that it pulls the front of the waist belt down slightly to form a “Y”. This will put the waist band well below your belly button. Also, at the surface there is no need to put a ton of air in the wing, or in some cases no air at all. You should be able to float on the...

Asking for a friend: SP D400/MK20 for cold water?

I’ve dived my MK20 down to 42 degrees salt water, no problems. 38 to 40 is pretty low but I don’t know what the official definition is of “cold water” for unsealed pistons. Does it need to be 32 for fresh and less for salt? Everybody seems to have a different opinion on what cold water is (and...

Want to Buy Freedom Plate, Small SS / 23# VDH wing

Yeah, but if you hit the power ball then you’d have enough money to get Bryan and I to stop what we’re doing and resume making dive gear no matter the cost, right?

Long hose single tank rec setup?

I used to use a 5’ hose wrapped around, but I also used a MK 20 and had the hose coming off the very end of the first stage with it pointed down and to the right. I also rode the tank lower than usual so with a combination of all this a 5’ was barely enough. I’m 6’4” too. Now I use an octo...

FB down, glad I’ve got SB to read at lunch. :)

Yeah, but that’s all part of the fun. Ever wonder why the boards where everyone gets along dry up? Because they’re boring.

New diver BP/W and weight distribution questions for cold water

I suppose you could use stainless, but lead is more available in scrap form and cheaper, plus it’s heavier, softer, and easier to form.
