    Wing availability

Appreciate the update and totally understand the uncertainty you're dealing with. Good luck and sorry you're having to deal with all these supply chain issues.

    Wing availability

Anyone have intel on when/if Argonaut wings will be back in stock? The website still has an estimate of late April which is obviously out of date.

Reminder of boat etiquette as we emerge from covid

My 90-somethingth dive was a cenote dive on the mainland during a Cozumel port closure. Nearly all of my 90+ dives to that point were cold-water, independent shore dives in Monterey - not that I'm hardcore or anything but suffice to say I am self-sufficient and know how to assemble my own gear...

Any Point Lobos Guides for hire? Friday 6/18

As mentioned above, the park is not currently issuing vendor permits so paid/guided dives cannot happen. But I'd recommend posting on this Facebook group and letting folks know what you're hoping to do; you may find someone who is experienced with the site who is willing to take you out as a...

Have ScubaBoard's SurfGF threads changed how you plan to dive?

For those who are adopting slower ascents and especially longer safety stops in rec diving, I'm curious how that has been received when you're on a DM-led dive, e.g. from a day boat or liveaboard. Do you tell the DM ahead of time that you plan to do a longer safety stop? Are they generally ok...

    Geo 2.0 - USB malfunction

I have no idea what any of y'all are talking about but I'm glad I could facilitate this exchange of techno-jargon.

    Geo 2.0 - USB malfunction

UPDATE! It was the cable. The free replacement cable arrived today and both dive computers synced like a dream. Now I just have to hope that when this new USB cable fails, it will again be within the 2-year warranty, because it'll sure be hard to stomach forking over another $98. A few of those...

    Info Optimal Buoyancy Computer

Ok, I measured all my neoprene - either thickness, for the suits, or directly with lead in the bathtub where possible. This chart captures my measurements and the resulting buoyancy assumptions (in blue) that I am using in the spreadsheet: I used these inputs to run a few scenarios where I...

    Info Optimal Buoyancy Computer

Thanks. I actually don't use a drysuit (for now), I'm diving wet in cold water with a 7mm IST semi-dry plus 5mm shorty oversuit. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I'm going to measure the wetsuit thickness directly as you suggested. For smaller neoprene accessories (hood, boots, etc), I might try to...

    Info Optimal Buoyancy Computer

I'm trying to use this calculator to estimate how much lead & lift I would need with a single AL 80 and a 5mm wetsuit. I don't have access to a pool to measure my suits & rig buoyancy, so am using the following assumptions: Height 68 in, weight 147 lbs Max depth: 120 ft Personal buoyancy...

    Geo 2.0 - USB malfunction

They are sending me a replacement cable (it's under warranty), so I'll be able to test that theory pretty soon.

    Most compact/packable 20-25lb wing

Thanks. You say that the Oxycheq is rather stiff and doesn't compact well for travel. How would you compare that to the VDH you are recommending? Asking because a previous response in this thread mentioned that it doesnt compact well for travel because of the stiff/sturdy construction.

    Geo 2.0 - USB malfunction

All the PCs I've tested on are running Windows 10. I contacted Oceanic support and they did send me a link to download & install a driver, which I did, but I'm still having the same issue. The weird thing is that we have used these same dive computers, cables, and PCs together many times in the...

    Most compact/packable 20-25lb wing

Thanks - any thoughts on how easily it packs? Does it roll or fold small easily?

    Most compact/packable 20-25lb wing

Thanks - unfortunately, too small for my target range (20-25lbs). When I wear a 5 mil with an extra 6 lbs of lead, I'm not comfortable without at least 20-22 lbs lift for a safety margin.

    Most compact/packable 20-25lb wing

I have the Deep Six Gear 30-lb wing for my SS backplate rig, which is great for local cold water diving, but I find the wing to be super bulky and awkward to pack for a flight. It doesn't roll or fold well and ends up taking a ton of space. I'm looking to get a 20-25lb wing for when I travel to...

    Geo 2.0 - USB malfunction

Cleaned the contacts on both dive computers as well as the cable, still having the same program. I'm thinking it's the cable since this issue is happening on multiple PCs with multiple dive computers, the cable is the only common factor. It should still be under the 2-year warranty so I'll reach...

    Geo 2.0 - USB malfunction

Thanks. Is there a recommended way to do that? Wet q-tip? Rubbing alcohol? Obviously the computer can get wet but not sure about the cable contacts.

    Geo 2.0 - USB malfunction

My wife and I have both been diving Ocean Geo 2.0s for over a year now. Today, I tried to hook them up to the computer via USB to download our logs to Subsurface as I usually do. When I plug in the USB cable, I get this error: It happens when I plug in either of our Geos. It also happens on...

    Dive guide riding whaleshark

If that is really a DM leading a dive, besides the obvious problem of RIDING A WHALE SHARK (seriously, WTF?), I would say that does not look like a DM with any situational awareness of his divers/customers or focus on their safety. I would think it would be grounds for loss of credentials, if he...
