I'd urge you to learn new double-hose reg skills in a pool with another diver. Practice then until they're automatic. I love this saying: "Amateurs practice until they get it right. Professionals practice until they can't get it wrong." I love to drill. You need these skills to work for you...
There are some skill variations needed for double-hose regs. We were taught to always perform clearing skills for mask or regs by rolling to the left to put the exhaust hose under the regulator so we always rolled in the right direction. With a single-hose reg is doesn't matter how you are...
Submitted. However, note that I have every facility a dive shop does, all to myself, and some the average shop does not have. I have a compressor, mix my own gas, rebuilt my own regs, plan my own travel, and so on. I'm about as far from being a regular dive shop customer as you are likely to...
They sure look like 300's, but as you say it's hard to tell from the pics. I opened one in a new tab and blew it up 250%. At that level of magnification it's hard to count the threads...but it sure looks closer to 7 than 5. OTOH all my tanks are LP so the one or two 300's I have are mostly a...
I'd have fixed it before diving. I carry tools, spares, and spare regs as a rule so it wouldn't take long. Without my own resources or something I couldn't borrow? Not enough info in your post to offer an opinion that would be meaningful.
A local fire department supply company made up *breathing air rated HP hoses* for me in the lengths I wanted. I have two long-ish fill whips and plumbed the bank with shorter pieces. I suggest you *not* use hydraulic hose not rated for breathing air for anything on your system.
Similary...
Somehow, nobody mentioned flush cutters for the tie. They don't leave a sharp edge behind. The cheap ones don't last but good ones are not expensive. (For some reason I don't seem to be able to post the link. Klein Tools makes one that's available on Amazon for $12.)
People have been known to fake RINs. Anyone can buy punches off McMaster et al. If you can't find it in the database...perhaps it's because it's never been assigned.

One day, if you live long enough, you may come to realize that just because two people happen to disagree it does not mean that if you're one of them that the other person is wrong.
Nick pointed you in the right direction for getting the answers to your questions. If you don't care about how your dive computer works, that's fine. A lot of people don't. But note that decompression *theory* matters to the people who make those computers even when they are used by people...
No, you don't. Magid and similar gloves will seal to the Zip Seal rings. I did this for a few years before switching to Kubis (which I like better). Some of the glove ring systems don't work well for people with large hands. If you have big hands, make sure you can fit through the rings...
You can get baby shampoo at nearly every dollar store and pharmacy, FWIW. No need for Johnson's. I use the cheap stuff. Works fine. (My spit used to, but doesn't any more, for reasons unknown.)
It seems worth mentioning here that a DM I know fairly well jumped into the water with the valve closed on a single tank. On the way down, the DM reached back and turned on the valve. As no training I know of taught this for DM at the time I was impressed by the calm, correct action under...
One breath is not enough. Turn on your valve(s). Turn off your valve(s). Breath from one hose until you can't. Count the breaths. Rinse and repeat for the other hose. Use the highest number for your predive check. For me (7' hose) the number is four deep breaths. I don't remember two...
