Thoughts on diving in the middle of dental root canal?

I did with temporary caps, with absolutely no problems.

    My video from the maldives

Changing visibility actually can even add to a dive video, in my opinion.

Transderm Scop Patch - anything better?

Hyoscine is just another word for scopolamine, yes.

Transderm Scop Patch - anything better?

Dry mouth is I think unavoidable for scopolamine, and anticholinergics in general...

    Salt - impact on weights?

The points about the salinity are true. What does complicate an exact comparison ("why X kg more instead of only Y kg according to maths?") is probably that other factors (equipment, tank, dive profile) will typically change when on travel...

I am fascinated no end by the mantas making underwater loopings ;)

Time to hang up my wetsuit after near death on NYE

I personally would not see this as a near death experience. I can imagine it must have been stressing and a negative experience subjectively, and it may be (although impossible to judge for me from a distance) mistakes were made. But in the end you and the DM managed to bring the dive to an end...

    Deco hand signal?

Should maybe have quoted, yes. I did not expect something this trivial to trigger such a strong reaction...

    Deco hand signal?

...come on. Of course I manage to teach the hand signals. I thought it was very clear that my comment was poking fun at the fact that first time divers sometimes mix this up, a phenomenon that probably most of us have witnessed. Without immediately resulting in the destruction of the Universe.

    Deco hand signal?

To change the perception of the entire non-diving world of this signal will be exceedingly hard, I fear. We have this quite often on try scuba dives: Even though the briefing explains what the "thumbs up" mean in the diving world, people use it the way they often have their entire lives. That is...

    Deco hand signal?

Yeah, very high chance to be mistaken for "I am doing great, buddy!"

    Deco hand signal?

OK so if diving without a guide, just substitute the word "guide" for "buddy". Point is, one will manage to communicate this, I am quite sure. Even more as unplanned deco in the vast majority of cases just means a few minutes at 3m that vanish anyhow on ascent.

    Deco hand signal?

Well, but in case of accidentally (for whatever reason) incurring a deco obligation, it will suffice that the guide communicates to stop for some given time. I do not think it is a big problem not to teach a specific sign in OWD courses to be honest.

    Deco hand signal?

Seems I follow the majority here ;)
