Do not feel confident in claiming any statistical value. What I see is that those folks that migrate to CCR seem to do it more or less completely.

Needs some flexibility I think. As others have said, thermal insulation is also at least to a point a function of the air in the suit.

Personal opinion (not a CCR diver): sustainable use of helium means CCR. Not advocating OC trimix for ever shallower depths.

Given that normally divers are really cautious regarding health issues, yes, I suggest to use the same caution when working with lead. It is not instantly a huge hazard, true. But especially of you do it often, there are more healthy things in life than casting lead weights in an improvised fashion.

"Shrink wrapped" is also cold. Although I have to say personally I prefer a bit of tactile feedback by the suit.

In any case much is unknown. Better to not always think the most benign scenarios will be those that become reality.

Depending on where you are diving (salt water / heavily chlorinated pool) this may not be of help, but in fresh water dives I sometimes simply take a sip of the water to wet my mouth.

There is no definition that is universal. One always needs to see the context. To me, "deep" in the context of this discussion means that the total deco time stayed fixed, and was (re)distributed from shallow to deeper.
