November Trip to Maui: Help needed in planning trip to another island?

We have been diving with several of the Maui ops. I agree that Lahaina divers caters to a wide range of divers, but we usually are left to do our own thing once they have seen us dive, and it's kind of 'be back on the boat in an hour'. The other experience we have had with Lahaina was 'stay...

Place to stay: long sandy beach + diving

Maybe a compromise would be to stay in Playa for a few days (nice sand over there), and you and the boy can do a cenote or two or the bull shark dive, then move the party over to the BA for a bit!

    Pro Diver sinks

My heart goes out to Paul and Matt who have taken us on great trips for many years and were part of a VERY nice operation. It's sad to hear, but really glad everyone is OK. Both those guys have families to take care of, and I will be hoping to hear some news of the recovery of the boat, but...

July - Diving Solo - Cozumel, then Mujeres or Holbox - Looking for Op, Advice, Etc!

I imagine BA would be great as a single as there is a real sense of family/community there. Each and every trip we've met some really great people that we spend the week with both Scubaboard and non Scubaboard alike. You won't be alone for long, unless you want to be. Also, the staff is...

    Hand signals?

The sea slug signal from the posted chart is the one we use for nudis. Most of the people we've been with in Coz use some kind of hand signals especially if the DM does them as part of the dive briefing.

Can the Transderm-Scop Patches be purchased over-the-counter in Cozumel?

Alyssa swears by them, but I was unable to find any in Cozumel - not to say they are not there, but I did not find any and couldn't really find out if they would need a prescription if they did have em. Have FUN!!!!

    Mayan/Spanish/Mexican coffee

Rolandi's does it as well! We always watch, but have never ordered it ourselves.

    Phone help!

Wi-Fi + Viber is what we use. You can go video, or just audio, or if you all have apple devices, you can just use face time (face time audio is pretty good even with sketchy wi-fi).

    Blue Angel

Huit is the BEST!!!! My daughter left a stuffed bear that goes on all her adventures at the hotel. I emailed and asked if they had it, and could give it to my in laws who were coming to Cozumel on a cruise. He sent this….. as proof of life with a demand of chocolate for his release. The...

    Blue Angel

I forgot to mention that the one friend (out of several) I sent to BA who didn't like it were a couple that thought the double bed was too small to have any fun, and did not get one of the kings. The wife and I do fine in a double, but we're older and a bit more sedate than those frisky...

    Cozumel recommendations please

Hmmm, so the only way to get a quality dive in Cozumel is to have a 90 minute bottom time? Now that you mention it, you're right, I've never had a quality 60 minute dive in Cozumel - quick get Aldora on the phone..... :D Ooh, being snarky is contagious! All in good fun.

    Cozumel recommendations please

I don't mind having the DM say "try and keep it to 60 minutes". Usually on an AL80 I'm running low if we've done a deeper dive after 60 mins. I also like to hang at safety stop until everyone else is in the boat (extra safety and my daughter dive buddy gets sea sick). It has been our...

    Blue Angel

Not to cheerlead, and I have no experience anywhere else in Coz, but we've had great experiences at Blue Angel for 5 trips now. Road noise is real, but manageable for me personally, YMMV. Ground floor room if available helps the noise a lot, but sacrifices the view. Keep the bathroom door...
