Considering your doing this for a U.K. university, I’m mystified why you haven’t separated out recreation diving from commercial, i.e. PADI at el instructors who in the U.K. fall under the Diving At Work Regulations. I’m sure you’re academic seniors are aware of the distinction as your...
A Bedford MK, classed as a military 4 Tonner, but plated weight 16 Tonne and capable of towing a 16 Tonne trailer. That was before I moved up to an 8 legger Foden with full Dyson trailer. All up weight 35 Tonne and 65ft in length. Only tank transporters and some specialist engineering kit was...
I have a MCH-6, but carry it inside my SUV.
From my logistics background, unless you have sophisticated suspension on the trailer anything on it is going to get bounced around. The nearer to the tow hitch you place any weight can effect the stability of the trailer. Normal tow hitch loading is...
I take out dive & travel insurance, not to recover monies for cancelled dives or even the trip as I would have spent that money anyway. I take insurance to recover me, or my body, back to the U.K. following any illness or injury.
Two things come to mind:
1. Mask clearing in water below 10’C is challenging, I always demonstrate first. Below 5’C I normally miss this drill, but note it for completion when warmer.
2. You don’t have to clear in a single breath.
The issue for BSAC (I was the IT Director at the time) was the reputational fallout. Users, by default, blamed BSAC for its demise, jumping to the conclusion we had wasted thousands of members money in its development. When in reality, it was one individual (my predecessor), who walked away from...
That was the problem with the BSAC forum (OK not an app), setting up was provided free by members, but ongoing maintenance soon (within 3 years) became costly as the developers lives changed. It got to the stage BSAC needed to spend over £100k to keep it running. Not good use of member’s money...
What’s a AL80/11Lt tank. Not used in the U.K. except as stage bottles.
I’ve got 12Lt 232bar cylinders with Tare weights ranging from 12Kg to 17Kg. Using your concept of cylinder capacity to judge weighting is flawed.
Hi, I use a TG6 in its housing.
Although I have two lights on a tray, I just use the camera and housing as a point and shoot. The faff of taking the setup was distracted to much from the diving.
Although, the TGs can do video it eats through the battery. So I tend to stick to stills. Some...
Sounds like you getting ready for a Darwin Award. Bottom time is limited by gas onboarding and offboarding, not be how long you take to breathe a tank down.
I recently did a 70 min dive on a 10Lt cylinder, max depth 11m, 6’C.
