Do the video/photo divers use more gas than the other divers in the group?

My husband (30+ years diving and photography) uses less air on the rare occasions he doesn't take his big a** camera rig. As long as he doesn't forget to add a couple pounds to make up for it. I think he spends a fair amount of effort positioning himself, and offsetting water movement to stay there.

    Advice please?

Dive ops in Curacao will also have people on board you can buddy with, assuming you are on a boat. Or like most places the DM. And there is the Dive Bus.

    Question first time in Cayman

Do you already have a place to stay? That might make a difference.

    USS Kittiwake

Given the usual conservative attitudes in Cayman, I was surprised the dive was the penetration it was, and that they apparently took anyone. There was at least one person when we went who was constantly banging into both wreck and divers who shouldn’t have been there. Made the dive kinda suck...

    Solo Liveaboard Travel

Its pretty common to run into solo travelers on LOBs, or solo divers traveling with a non-diver. There will probably be people to buddy with or you can dive with the DM. (A new LOB buddy is probably a better bet than a day boat instabuddy.) On a LOB you’ll get to know the people. There will...

    Electric in Bonaire

You are unlikely to need a converter anywhere in the world anymore. Simply check that anything electrical you will travel with is rated for the voltage/amperage. Nowadays, pretty much anything is. If you travel with a non-travel hair dryer, iron, alarm clock, whatever -ask yourself if you will...

Question Reef hook: bolt snap or carabiner?

This is what I do. I don’t usually need hands free for a camera or anything so a handle is usually a better option for me. I think I may have even slipped a length of plastic tubing on it to make it more comfortable.

    Grand Cayman Custom Advise

A fixed exchange rate is a thing. Are these all surcharges and discounts? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_circulating_fixed_exchange_rate_currencies

    Grand Cayman Custom Advise

Would you still consider it a surcharge if it were called the Cayman Dingle rather than the Cayman Dollar? Its an exchange rate, not a surcharge.

    Grenada vs Bonaire

I’ve only done a few dives on Grenada (including the Bianca C), was not actually that impressed, vis wasn’t great for us, but probably haven’t given it a fair shot. At any rate, I believe its mostly boat diving, not much you can get to as a shore dive. Its definitely not Bonaire and probably not...

    Belize or French Polynesia

Any popular indo-pacific dive destination will generally be way better than a Caribbean one. But it’s best to have some extra time when you head to the Pacific to acclimate, spend some extra time on land before/after your LOB, etc. So if you’re squeezing this in might consider sticking to...

Sargassum on 7 mile beach ?

    Turks and Caicos Diving

That’s actually a somewhat tricky question for T&C. Are you looking for the AI to include diving, or just food and have a dive op convenient enough that can handle your group? (And how big a group?) There are a bunch of AIs in T&C, but I don’t think most of them work well due to expense...

    Atlantis Dumaguete - Non-Diver

When we were at a different resort (Pura Vida) in Dauin some people in our group took a jeepney on off-gas day into Dauin proper or maybe as far as Dumaguette. Don't recall what they did but they seemed to have fun (or maybe exhilarated from cheating death.) Perhaps something to look into...

Trip Report BVI Aggressor Review: AMAZING VACATION, GREAT LIVEABOARD, GREAT CREW.

Most of this sounds pretty standard Caribbean Aggressor, including “up to 27 dives” per the website. I would guess that the “anchorage situation” is that they don’t have moorings at most of the places they dive, at least not ones suitable for a boat that size. So they need to moor or anchor...

    Going diving in Maui

Molokini back wall is a cool dive/drift. Inside is ok but might be on ti skip if limited time. (Coolest part about inside to me was just the idea if diving in a crater.)

    WHERE TO DIVE"

What do you want to see? Plenty of land based diving in the Phillipines. Indonesia is nice to do liveaboard but you can certainly do land based there. Ditto for Palau, Maldives. Lots of Pacific islands out there…

    Scubapro "Finseal" BCD's ..

Saw this and thought of this thread- https://scubaboard.com/community/threads/aqua-lung-wave-bc-w-scubapro-air-2.631473/ If thats the wrong size they still sell them. Simple non- weight integrated kinda similar to the old SP jackets. I think it was a popular rental. My husband likes simple...

    Liveaboard Sinks Off Tubbataha Reef

yeah, this is from marinetraffic.com which doesn't tell you much unless you subscribe. Aside from height, that boat has a lot of surface. Decks that would be more like half decks or less and open much of the way on most liveboards, look all enclosed.
