Question Tech signs to indicate next stop depth/duration

Yes, the depth of the first stop is always given. Even if diver #2 is showing a shallower stop on their computer, they would respond with the depth given by #1.

Question Tech signs to indicate next stop depth/duration

Agree + disagree is confusing. He would start with "No" -- the finger waggle -- for clarity. Then A1 + the deeper depth. A1+that depth would be returned by the other diver and confirmed as correct by the limiting diver.

Question Tech signs to indicate next stop depth/duration

We use option A1-2 for the first stop, but don't bother giving a time. When that stop is clear and one of us says ascend to the next stop (using just A1), the other agrees (with A1) or responds no and remaining time. If it was a no, they give the ascent signals moving forward.

Palm O2 Sensor failed that quick?

Power on wouldn't have impacted the cell, they are essentially like a battery themselves. Some cells just die early. (I had one crap out after 6 months.) Replacement should run $80-$100.

    Primary Light - GUE fundies

Dive Rite LX20+ is great, but has been replaced by the FX40 (which also looks pretty great). However you might check with your instructor. I don't know if you're doing a tech or a rec fundies, but they may want you to use a canister for training. What you do after the class is what it is. You...

    Razor 4.0 v xdeep tec 2.0

I don't adjust the harness between exposure suits. The waist cinches tight on both, and the shoulders are loose on both. (Looser on a 3mm wetsuit but no issues during the dive. If anything, it's nicer to don that way.)

    Razor 4.0 v xdeep tec 2.0

I prefer the 2x ring setup (per side). I tried the Dive Rite fancy sliders and hated them. I found them very difficult to move, especially compared to a simple re-clip.

Why not attach spool to DSMB before the dive?

Folks might do well to remember that before giving you sh*t for being last out. 🤣

    Review Diving the Avelo System

It certainly is like that. You're targeting +2 lb on the surface when full. Subtract what you no longer have, add for the new, and adjust for the surface reference point. Again, would you please share the Avelo buoyancy value?

    Review Diving the Avelo System

Knowing the buoyancy with empty 10 L tank would make this trivial for experienced divers who already know how to mix & match their components. Can you say what that might be?

    Fourth Element Arctic buoyancy

I need ~14 lbs more for the Base+Arctic layers compared to the base layer alone. Confirmed this with 14 lbs more for Arctic+Xerotherm compared to Xerotherms alone. (Using XL top, L bottoms)

Noob questions about various weight(s) topics .....

For a breathing cycle of 1 liter, you can breath in the range of 0-1L at the end of the dive and perhaps a range of 3.5-4.5L at the beginning if your lungs are large. The difference in average of 3.5L compensates for about 8 lbs of negative buoyancy due to gas and/or suit compression. Certainly...

Noob questions about various weight(s) topics .....

Looks cool and might keep you under any airline weight limits? Not a big advantage IMHO, but marketing is strong in this industry.

Noob questions about various weight(s) topics .....

Far more common! Problem for both for the diver and anyone below them.

Noob questions about various weight(s) topics .....

You've hit upon the concept of "a balanced rig". When neutral at safety stop depth with minimal air in the wing and reserve cylinder pressure, you would then be negatively buoyant with a full tank by the amount of the gas weight. Thus, you add air to the BC, and all is well. When you descend...

Noob questions about various weight(s) topics .....

Buoyancy changes happen faster when your BC has more air in it. New divers' kinesthetic sense isn't as developed, but it will also degrade if an experienced diver goes awhile between dives. This combo can result in someone trying to vent (slowing the expansion and ascent rate), but not enough...

Overweighted at beginning of dive but underweighted at end in shallows

BP/W is negative and stays negative. AL80s start negative and switch to positive. Wetsuit starts positive and stays positive. Any individual component's buoyancy is immaterial, as it's the TOTAL buoyancy at the end of the dive that matters. Think about it, strapping a 2 lb lead brick to an AL80...

At which point is the air coming out from the cylinder subjected to ambient pressure?

Your CO2 production rate in your tissues is consistent across depths for a given level of exertion. The transfer away ultimately is inversely tied to the concentration of CO2 molecules in the lungs (molecules per lung volume, so also independent of depth). A larger breath increases the volume...

At which point is the air coming out from the cylinder subjected to ambient pressure?

Thanks for the correction. I did, in fact, drop a factor of 2: 2 L lung volume at 2 bar depth ambient is 4 bar.liters of molecules.
