    Review Seaskin Nova drysuit

Sidetrack - anyone have a line on where to purchase just the Rolock 90 glove-side ring & blue retaining ring? (Part #s 90-9707 (R/L) and 90-9901) My last shark encounter was a bit... exciting. 😎 J/k, I apparently left them on the table at the dive site. 😔

Question Should I become a tech diver? Mostly dive south Florida

AN/DP first because "walk before you run". The additional deco theory and focus on precision stops will be a good stepping stone. Your first CCR cert can be deco/helitrox, and if you have to bail out from the CCR with a deco obligation looming, you'll have experience hitting/holding your stops...

Can a scubapro hydros pro run a long hose setup?

Just under the right arm then immediately across/up rather than down to the hip anchor then across/up. From there, they route identically.

Can a scubapro hydros pro run a long hose setup?

The Hydros D-rings are pretty small, you might consider swapping them for something easier to clip.

Can a scubapro hydros pro run a long hose setup?

Assuming you do not need to share air during a single-file exit, a 5 ft long hose works very well without the need for an anchor at the hip.

    air gauge

I'm not concerned about the "barely on" scenario. I just open fully and rely on decades of successful ongoing training. I also position the tank so I can reach my valve if needed (e.g., deck hand turned it off by mistake). Descending while looking at my buddy is standard practice. IMHO, the...

Feedback on recent two-tank and dive limits

You did include a ±, but without any numbers, leaving it up to the reader to guess the interval of your estimate, as well as the confidence level of said interval. In other words, stop digging. I also noticed you didn't comment on my observation that Buhlmann ZHL+GF at the common presets is...

Feedback on recent two-tank and dive limits

No, DSAT does not bend someone on 3 out of 100 NDL dives (on average) -- far from it, actually. You should read up on it's development sometime. For diving within one day, over 900 dives (some repetitive, some single) were tested with zero DCS incidents. For tests involving 6 consecutive days of...

    Routing of secondary hose

Hey, why should the sidemounters have all the fun tinkering with their gear. 🤣

    Routing of secondary hose

You must be more flexible than I am! I don't think I could reach the tank valve (should the need arise) if it were that low.

    Routing of secondary hose

I would think it more likely to snag being relatively loose when coming from under the right arm. (Think about when in horizontal trim, with the "heavy" end on the necklace.) The long hose, OTOH, is kept from "drooping" by the hip anchor or tucked in the waistbelt and most of the weight...

    Routing of secondary hose

I'm confused because in this video the alternate hose is coming over the right shoulder and there is no swivel. It's the standard doubles config that has worked well for ages. Did you mean to link a different video, or is there a timestamp that shows what you're describing?

Feedback on recent two-tank and dive limits

@old frogman, we get that you like tables. Would you not agree that there is no practical difference between: Looking at a table to get an "ascent number" then monitoring a number on a watch until it gets close to that number Monitoring a number on a computer (i.e., the displayed NDL) until it...

Feedback on recent two-tank and dive limits

Answered 2 posts after your question. BTW, you didn't answer this: That newly certified diver will be pretty safe, as 1) they've been trained to look for the NDL number on a computer and 2) the default settings are fine. It's really not hard to shallow up when the displayed remaining NDL gets...

Feedback on recent two-tank and dive limits

Do you understand that class covers computer use? Initially, I'd say, "When this number [NDL] hits 5, start to shallow up." They should also be checking their gas pressure, and that will typically be the limiting factor in my experience with new OW divers.

    Entry BCD

I wouldn't call 9 lbs light. Unless you switch to the travel belt, at which point it's pretty much a monoprene backplate with small D-rings that can't be positioned where I want them. An AL BP/W will be light, customizable, and can be less than half the cost. Don't get me wrong: I'm glad you...

Feedback on recent two-tank and dive limits

Yes, gradient factors were conceived of by Baker to 1) add conservatism in the surfacing tissue loading -- applicable to both NDL and mandatory stop diving 2) increase the depth of the first stop on a mandatory stop dive (to better align with the bubble models in vogue at the time) (That is why...

    Largest gas capacity aluminium cylinders?

Unless I'm mistaken, that was simply illustrating the validity of the "50% deeper" statement. Your BO scenario is less demanding, wouldn't you agree?
