Looked to secure my trauma shears but I don't think a tri-glide will work

This solution is genius (and effective). (Edit: Click to jump to the details.) https://scubaboard.com/community/threads/trim-pocket-anti-slide-keeper.604723/

    PSA: drill your internal booms

Oooo, the SABR move -- "sneak attack by Rabbit". I like it. 🤣

    PSA: drill your internal booms

I use one, and it's extremely quick to indicate high PO2 (as well as quite obvious). It's not uncommon for it to briefly flash red as the "slug" of O2 moves past the sensors after a manual addition before falling back down. I have mine on the side of my non-dominant eye, and can somewhat "see...

    PSA: drill your internal booms

Excellent point, and I suspect that may have contributed largely. The chief thing that struck me was he didn't vent out his mouth in spite of the *significant* pressure; only intentional nose exhales. Not an aggressive/effective mouth exhale, and certainly not a passive "relax/open the airway...

    PSA: drill your internal booms

That is exactly what he did... and wound up on the surface. Don't you think it's better to vent AND crank on the valve -- simultaneously? Without venting, you're definitely going up and gaining speed.

    PSA: drill your internal booms

One section stuck out to me, though my only first-hand knowledge of BMC units is with a JJ and Fathom Mk3. It says this: However, on those units, the counter lung vent is quite accessible. Realistically, on any unit, the DSV can be cracked open to manage loop volume. The author seems to be...

    Question Fathoms MK III

I like my Fathom a lot -- bulletproof construction and very simple maintenance-wise. (Outside of lubing o-rings and swapping out sensors, I haven't had to do anything in the 2 years I've had mine.) I think the biggest difference from a JJ is mCCR vs eCCR. An mCCR appeals to me (my call whether...

    PSA: drill your internal booms

From the diver's perspective, the issue was a loud noise immediately followed by continuous gas injection into the loop and rapidly increasing buoyancy. My understanding is there is a distinction between "boom" and "internal boom" events, with the former not impacting buoyancy. (Perhaps you're...

Buying first set of singles tanks with the intention to double them up later

For the record, LP85s are actually shorter than AL80s by 0.1". (They are both ~26".) (I agree that the difficulty in filling in some areas is the main drawback.) The HP100s are nice for someone 5'6" as they're about ¾ of an inch shorter at 25.3". OP, I believe a single HP100 with an AL plate...

Buying first set of singles tanks with the intention to double them up later

Lol, just be wary of the "helpful" deckhand turning off your gas if you run a left-sided valve. (I don't do many dives on commercial boats, and I've had them screw up twice with a normal valve.) OP: a new valve can be had for under $50.

Long hose management when getting BC back on panga from the water

Same. I would still coil it, though.

Long hose management when getting BC back on panga from the water

I switch to the alternate during the safety stop, then coil the long hose (8-10 inch diameter) and do a double "overhand knot" (or spiral wrap) with the hose around the earlier coils, then clip it to the chest ring. No issue with anyone trying to pull on the hose. Just hand up the rig with back...

    PSA: drill your internal booms

On a side note, he had difficulty maintaining level after returning to depth, even swimming with a bottom reference on OC -- I'm sure this was more mental than anything. I told him to park it in the grass for a bit until he calmed down; and afterward, he was much improved. My takeaway at the...

    PSA: drill your internal booms

(I considered putting this in Accidents/Incidents, but I figured the narrower audience here would be beneficial.) An eventful dive this weekend, my buddy experienced an internal boom -- gas was being rapidly added to the loop. He's a relatively new CCR diver, and his training was essentially...

Apeks Tek3 trying to run transmitter and SPG on both sides

You know, I have to say this is a refreshing attitude, demonstrative of an open mind. I suspect your upcoming training will go well. Best of luck!

Equipment If you can't drop your weights and you are sinking

As will mashing on the inflator. In either case, I'd wish for an attentive buddy, as I'm unlikely to be face up on the surface if I pass out.

Equipment If you can't drop your weights and you are sinking

The flip side to this is that it can slip or become accidentally unbuckled and up you go. With the weight belt under the crotch strap, it will be caught instead of lost. Think of it as risk mitigation. The vitriol from that instructor was absolutely unwarranted. It was an excellent opportunity...

    Review Seaskin Nova drysuit

Same, but blue rings were 14 GBP each. Then shipping, which was reasonable. Nice folks. (You might verify yours is for the pair unless you've already got them.)

    Review Seaskin Nova drysuit

They just got back to me, too: 110 GBP, which is about $150 USD. DGX has the whole kit for only $65 more, so I'm on the fence.
