    New Halcyon Rebreather?

Cool patent. Something new and different! So the idea is that this thing combines the ADV, dil MAV, and BOV into one device? Really interesting.

    Halo Scuba - legit?

Update - I took the gamble and ordered an expensive set of hard-to-find limited edition fins despite knowing nothing about the reputation of this shop. Figured at worst the credit card company would deal with it. Ironically enough my VPN was freaking out Halo's payment processor and the shop...

Unpressurised Dry Suit for Shallow Surface Supplied Air Diving

What's wrong with a spare air for this use case? Shallow water. Way better than nothing. Agree a bigger pony is better and allows him to inflate the suit too. But it sounds like maybe he has no access to air fills.

Unpressurised Dry Suit for Shallow Surface Supplied Air Diving

Drysuits can be dived to any depth from snorkeling at the surface to the very deepest dives. Drysuits require a low pressure inflation connection (just like a BCD) to squirt air in and compensate the pressure inside. Plenty of shops rent drysuits like the Silfra operation does and they're used...

DIY 3D Printed CCR parts - Replacement purge cover for Hollis BOV 2nd stage

This is awesome! Great job! Let us know how it dived, and maybe do a long-term update some time in the future. Curious to see how the TPU holds up over time.

Ever dive that mine in Rutland? Is it any good?

    BOV: Shrimp vs Divesoft?

How comfortable/light do you find it? It's as comfortable as anything. Not really different from a smaller DSV. The real way to make the loop more comfortable is to add a seacure mouthpiece and weight/foam on the hoses as needed to make them float level and neutral. Gagstrap too. How easy is it...

    Used drysuit worth it

I've purchased two used drysuits. One turned out to be completely falling apart, an undivable piece of junk that I lost hundreds of dollars on. The second was dirt cheap, amazing, and lasted for years completely trouble free. It's a crapshoot. Its easier if you have the experience to really...

    Free diving fins

Pro - they're far, far more powerful, efficient, or fast Con - they're awful to maneuver in, less precision and control, forget back kicking If you're diving in strong current, want to lazily cruise in open water, or need to cover a lot of distance with low air consumption they're a reasonable...

    Clean outside of tank?

First of all, get a good visual inspection / make sure the inside of the tank is clean. It's possible though unlikely that some ugly galvanic stuff was happening that affected the inside as well. Try an aluminum cleaner/polish product first. Might need a reasonably aggressive one. Try a mild...

    Alternative to DAN insurance?

Are you talking about trip insurance or dive accident insurance and evacuation coordination?

Why are long-delayed or followup chamber treatments effective at all?

My understanding is that hyperbaric treatment of DCS works by (re)compressing bubbles then allowing the dissolved gas to slowly come out of solution on controlled decompression. As I understand it, this should only be effective within hours-days after a DCS incident while acute bubbles exist...

    🤩 Cost-effective Canister Dive Light!!!

At this point in LED/Battery technology, if you are doing dives that actually require a canister light at all, you really need one with a BIG canister made by a more reputable manufacturer like underwater light dude. lightmonkey, or nanight.

    Seal on seal dry gloves

I have a pair, only used them a few times, felt like the double seal was too tight on my wrist. Like they were maybe starting to limit warm blood flow to my hands which is counterproductive. That could have been a personal problem or user error.

British commandos during WW2 - drowning enemy divers?

Even if there WAS underwater hand-to-hand combat that seems like an unreliable, risky, and very difficult way to do it. Compared to say, using a weapon. I could believe luring them deeper was a technique.

Question Trying to decide between an electric powered or gasoline powered MCH-6 Icon...

Would it be crazy to underdrive one of these by changing the pulleys? Drop the RPM, wait a lot longer for fills, less heat and CO? Or add more effective cooling somehow?

Question Does higher level shop offer higher teaching quality for OW?

The star thing is meaningless. It's all about the instructor. Shops that teach and support technical diving or are owned by serious, active technical/cave divers generally will teach even the beginner courses better. But top of the line instruction will cost a bit more, you get what you pay for.

    Fast Diver Craft

Late contender for thread of the year. Anyone here have any actual experience using one of these things in the military or back in the day before people realized they're a pain to navigate and not really worth building for recreational purposes? If so whats it like? Fun? Not as fun as one might...
