    Powerful underwater speaker

How much pipe was submerged? What was the approximate length, diameter, and wall thickness?

    Dual Rebreathers?

Is your BOB posted anywhere? I am interested to see pictures or more information about it.

    Leak testing my drysuit, myself....

Plug wrists and neck with plastic bottles, inflate, use a spray bottle of soapy water to detect bubbling leaks. If that doesn't do it, turn it inside out and do the same. Inflating it inside out requires a wrist or neck plug with a LP fitting, or temporarily removing the inflator button and...

Question Canister lights: 90degree SM attachment vs regular, and adjustable power levels

I find the lower power settings are very useful with modern bright LEDs. Sometimes these lights are just too bright. Or going down one click in power will drastically increase runtime.

    Send cut send

Looks like it will work. You should at least specify that they "break all edges" so it's not knife-sharp, and consider at least doing some DIY work with a hand file or rotary tool to round over the edges.

Question Turn a single bladder rig into Dual Bladder

Carry a closed-bottom DSMB, train to use it as a backup lift option. Practice ascents straddling it like a pool noodle. Among many other uses.

    Send cut send

Yeah I've had good experiences with them. Easy process, quick turnaround, good results, attentive service. But there are lots of other waterjet or laser companies around as well, online and possibly local to you so it's worth getting a couple quotes. If you only need basic lightweight d-rings...

PLB housing question and also opinion on them.

I was about to type essentially the same message; you want significant safety factor on this to withstand impact, exceeded depth, and damage over time.

PLB housing question and also opinion on them.

One thing to consider with PLB housings is how easily they open. Ideally it should never pop open accidentally underwater, but open very easily when needed in an emergency. As in, something you can access reliably even if injured, partially incapacitated, wearing thick gloves, or with...

How much does it cost in electricity to fill a 15 liter scuba tank?

Odd that he stopped filling your tanks instead of just adjusting the price accordingly.

PLB housing question and also opinion on them.

I like that the ResQLink is relatively long and narrow, meaning it can neatly fit in a relatively small diameter round housing.

Equipment Exploding tank shrapnel injures boy - Ploče beach, Montenegro

I have seen and dived with sketchier looking operations, most of whom don't blow up tanks. I'm curious what directly caused the explosion and hope to see more details. Surely negligence somewhere.

    Just bought my first tank

Spare o-rings are always good, if you haven't put together your own save-a-dive kit with spare parts and tools you definitely should. Plenty of threads on what people carry. Cool dark room is fine, blazing sunny boat deck is okay too, they're pretty hard to kill. I wouldn't bother removing the...

Excellent post. Congrats on your discovery and thanks for sharing this nice writeup! Free beer!

What do you see as the most important "first piece of kit to buy"?

The order depends on the kind of diving you do and the price, quality, and convenience of rental gear available. For example, some people will list computers first or second but I didn't get a dive computer for my first few years of diving because I almost exclusively did shallow shore dives...

Why is this SPG so cheap?

How's this for a cheap gauge: Pony Bottle Gauge (BLACK FACE) This is my preferred SPG. Made in Italy by the company mentioned above, $46: HOG 1.5 The analog thermometer is cool. It would be especially nice for shallow recreational diving without a computer. Of the many many non-essential...

A combined wing-harness - don't even know what's the proper name of this thing (many pics)

This is awesome, your work is really, really nice! It looks super professional and well made. Excellent use of Halcyon webbing on designs that are increasingly removed from a DIR harness. Curious to see how this shapes with a tank on it, and how it dives in the water. How thick and tough is...

    Question Redundancies

A DSMB+spool with a knot in the line at 15 ft can mark your safety stop depth as a backup, and help you stabilize there by giving a visual reference or physical thing to hold. A DSMB + spool is a really great thing to have, a simple tool useful for probably a dozen other totally different...

    Logging. Do you?

Putzing surely does suggest foolishly (and perhaps fatly) milling about. Futzing could be frivolous, but not necessarily aimless. It could be purposeful, focused, and important. As in last-minute futzing to adjust a finicky regulator before a dive rather than efficiently swapping it out while...
