My partner and I are heading up to "Dive the Five" straight after New Year, we will do Lake Taupo on the way up and Goat Island on the way home again.
We do have a couple of days in hand after all the charters we have booked.
Am sure there are shore dives there which will be worth the effort...
I dont use a DSLR but lots of my photo dive buddies do. Two of them are professional photographers.
Invariably they say that unless you are operating at professional level, a camera such as the G12 is more than up to the job.
The important thing is that the controls should NEVER be set to...
Hi, I am no expert but I have found with my G7 that using manual white balance is WAY more effective than the preset for underwater shots.
I have the only G series camera that does NOT support RAW so I have to get as much right when I take the shot as possible as I have fewer post processing...
Hi, my partner is and Advanced Open Water diver with about 60 dives since January this year. She looked at LOADs of BCDs and went for an Aqualung Diva, she reckons its a great shape for her and it will be her only BCD (hah!!! she has the gear bug and is ALWAYS looking for new stuff!)
She has an...
i wouldnt touch the wrist seals, they definitely wont work as well as they should if you roll them!
The neck seal not rolled? I would be going back to the LDS that sold me the thing and asking why they didnt ensure you knew how to use the thing!!! The whole idea is the softskin neoprene "sticks"...
I prefer neoprene seals as I personally find them more comfortable, there will be plenty of people who say the complete opposite!
Neoprene will be harder and thus more expensive to replace when the time comes but for my money they are more durable and can sustain a certain amount of damage and...
yup would echo all of the comments there, if you look after your gear and get your skills right then no worries, this is not the toughest suit on the market and I dont think its designed to be. It will however do what it says on the tin. Personally if I get a leak I tend have it at the wrists...
should note for fairness that the Oceanic distributor came to the party re my drysuit and provided a full refund. Took a little bit of crowing but I guess its the final outcome which is important. 1 for Oceanic in my book.
excellent information.
Thank you.
It would seem its worth waiting to see how the C series works out then, I dont really want to be changing my gear at every turnaround.
I just got one to replace a suit from another manufacturer which was faulty. The Everdry is not the suit if you are going to be clambering through wrecks every dive but for most recreational diving is absolutely great. Its light, soft and well made. It fits more like a loose wetsuit than the bag...
cheers for that :D
Nope, extra fiddly bits is definitely NOT the reason I am thinking about this. When I bought this reg originally I went for the R295 and not the R395 as the adjustment didnt seem worth the extra at the time and was something else "to go wrong" I guess hindsight is always...
I did search around the boards to see if someone else had answered this already so if I missed it, I apologise!
I have a ScubaPro MK11 with an R295 2nd stage. I like the reg but wonder if I am getting the most I can from the potential of the 1st stage given I have the entry level 2nd on it...
hmm that is a problem, so you think spending a couple of days just travelling to be cheaper than getting there in 12hrs and using your time actually diving. I can see when you say you are not an economist that you are not exaggerating;)
Not offended by the number of Aussies in HK, that would...
and that, my friend, will be your loss ;)
re the cost, you just need to look at a map of the world to see how far you have to travel to get here, a pity but the reality :shakehead:
Most people who dive regularly will want to be in their own gear, it stands to reason. However the companies we are recommending will all hire full sets of equipment or whatever is required with specific items. Pricing will vary from country to country as we know, here most places will give you...
I have a Lavacore short sleeve shirt. Awesome product. I wear it under my wetsuit in the summer which adds further insulation to my core without adding to the bouyancy of my stealth wetsuit. In winter when I dive dry I use the same garment under my drysuit with a thin polar fleece over that...
I bought an Oceanic drysuit through an approved dealer about 8 months ago. Since then it has spent more time in transit to the Oceanic distributor or with the distributor than I have had it in my possession to go diving. Leaking valves both inlet and outlet have been the persistent problem. The...
Hi, just for my 2 cents worth if you can swing a liveaboard I would go for it. Did a trip at easter there, left Tutukaka harbour at 9am on a Friday, weighed anchor from the Poor Knights at lunchtime on the following Monday having logged 15 dives, each one very special for different reasons.
The...
got to agree with the other posts here, check with the Wgtn outfits and get in to the reserve, awesome site!
By way of encouragement I have done 3 charters there in the last few months and all have gone ahead as planned, it is getting late in the season though and the weather can really turn...
