    Dive computers for small wrists

Lots of interesting comments - and helpful about what to buy. I liked the idea about using the canvas strap and I know they come with stainless steel buckles. And so quick to pick it out of the soak tank. A couple of years ago mine was one of four identical old Suuntos. That was fun...

Lembeh - are we doing it wrong?

Interesting comments from Cetacean and Indah. I recall also KBR when it was the only and a simple dive resort. Our first dive was with Liberty. On subsequent visits after a big gap, I thought that our favourite dive site from the first visit was not so populated - everyone at KBR was raving...

South Coast Sri Lanka - brief report - good surprises

Hope you are getting guests back into Sri Lanka. Your dive season in the south starts in October? I'm not sure. Is that right? Do you guys operate on the east coast during the "other season"?

    Dive computers for small wrists

Yes, that is a thought. The best arrangement is when you forget to put it on and you commence a dive to find that it is waving in front of your eyes - yes, one of the dive staff has free-dived down to bring it to you. So that's what full-service means!

    Dive computers for small wrists

6" wrist, old eyes - yes, you'd recognise me anywhere. I tried alternative computer, yes I can see most of the display, but not the particular bits that are the warnings you need. And it didn't provide the log info I like for my records. And setting it foxed even the experts, you know, "No...

Aqualung i200 Safety Stop On or Off

Scubadada - thanks. Good point. Useful Test suggestion. I will check again - yes I did read the manual - when it says OFF it is definitely ON. But I will check what it appears to say with whether I can set the timing of the stop. Everything else that I set up, eg Dual Time, Default time, etc...

Women and everything being heavy in scuba diving

Lifting tanks. I like to carry my own, I may need to anyway. I just had a thought. Apologies if I have missed this in the thread - but I've just remembered seeing someone with some kind of clip-on grab-handle carrying tanks. My problem is that I can lift them if I can just get a good grip...

Aqualung i200 Safety Stop On or Off

Thanks Bob for the comment. I did read the manual, and then read it again and it gives no clues as to whether what you see is the state it is in. As you say - experience with electronics - it's what led me to try the opposite. But this is inconsistent with other settings which are what they...

Women and everything being heavy in scuba diving

So enjoying this thread. Luck was on my side recently - going up an awkward boat ladder with the boat kicking up and down. Somehow managed to hang on and emerge gracefully into the boat. Others had been less lucky and had to slump head first onto the floor. Made out I had skill when it was...

South Coast Sri Lanka - brief report - good surprises

We dived in Madiha Polhena. The fish life was a surprise. Excellent diversity of reef fish and all very big. Banded shrimp looked bigger than my hand. We also saw cobia and tuna. Boulders and sand shutes. The morays were outstanding and often seen out swimming. Nudibranchs too. A nurse...

Aqualung i200 Safety Stop On or Off

My Aqualung i200 stopped giving me a safety stop. I used my buddy to time it. I checked the settings and it showed that Safety Stop (SS) was On. Tested it next dive - still no safety stop. In a perverted attempt to test it, I set it show that it showed Safety Stop Off. And of course it gave...

What's in your bag, travel tips & tricks.

I agree - keep it cheap and light. Expensive holdalls with heavy quality canvas and fastenings can weigh a ton and give you a major strain as you heft them into the rack and try and force them into the required shape. I use bubble wrap for any fragile items because it is light, waterproof and...

Underwater Cleanup in Madiha-Polhena reef Sri Lanka

If you are still cleaning up at the beginning of February, we can give you a hand.

65+ Grumpy Old Divers (or NOT Grumpy)

Don't know what I'm doing here. Never quite sure how old I am. The other half would say something about feeling a little old. (It's Brit-humour if you don't get it, like feeling a little Grumpy.) Diving is good for you in all ways. And exercise is now deemed the new medication for ageing. I...

Women and everything being heavy in scuba diving

Enjoyed this thread - and a lot of common sense. Getting fit - really helps. Women aren't weaker than men, but they are a different shape. (Do I win a prize for observation?) And they may be shorter. And their strongest muscles tend to be core and lower, rather than in shoulders. I can do...

    Cambodia?

Yes, now I am impatient to go there, but it will have to wait til 2020. Many thanks for the answers and particularly for the info re Sihanoukville. I don't mind crowded, dusty, noisy, traffic-snarled SE Asian towns, but don't need casinos, scams and (currently) sex tourism.

    Flight Manado to Sorong?

Yes, langsam langsam - which wasn't how it went down that day. The flight with Sriwijaya was fine, better than Merpati, but any flights, including Garuda, out of an Indonesian airport require vigilance and resilience. Earlier this year Denpasar to Manado with Garuda managed to lose passengers...

    Cambodia?

Wingy, thanks. Oddly enough I had got Kep and the Cardamom Mts in my mind. I might well come back to you about the drivers. We like to get off the tourist trail - in fact you only seem to need to go 50 yards off and it's like it's not there. I need to do some more research on Sihanoukville...

    Flight Manado to Sorong?

Yes, flown with them. Much preferred to Merpati - but that is not an encouraging thing. Survival is a matter of attitude. This is Indonesia, this is Sriwijaya, assume nothing, the flight may depart earlier, or later, your luggage may or may not ever be seen again, the flight may even go to a...
