    Second Episode of Skin Bends

Then this could be another anecdotal report. I was never sure because the dive was above 20 m and under one hour. Also some possible previous damage from an (undignified) fall in the garden.

    Second Episode of Skin Bends

Forgive if this seems stupid. Somewhere in these posts I noted mention of cold and constriction. Could a tight wetsuit make a difference? I am thinking that wetsuits can be very constricting for women across the chest area. I am linking this to the physique description.

    Booked !

Hopes for getting to Indonesia later in 2021. UK dive tour ops have been organising Zooms with some of their resorts. I've been in Indonesia and in the Maldives already - sort of. Now is the time for putting enquiries in to dive resorts and liveaboards to let them know they are not forgotten...

Seeing these things hurtling along the sand, moving from place to place, or swimming is amazing. They are so fast.

    Red Sea (Again) or Indonesia

Get your international flights sorted asap. Which means know which airlines fly where, how much they cost and what their terms and conditions are. Then assume everything will change and things could get costly. But - some airlines are doing deals eg Qatar Airlines are currently offering a...

    Red Sea (Again) or Indonesia

I agree about SE Asia being a better destination. Suggestion about a few days land-based to get over jet lag is spot on and careful choice of location will yield first class diving. The journey. I have spent a bit of time on finding travel options from NYC to Indonesia. Do try some lateral...

    For Women: Lavacore or Sharkskin?

Second post. I use a Lavacore. I have bust to accommodate. I use a man's size. Much better fit. Possibly a little long in the arm but not so's you'd notice. I found the size chart for the man's was accurate. As per previous post - I feel the cold. Some years ago I tried combination of 2...

    For Women: Lavacore or Sharkskin?

I used to feel the cold. A neoprene dive bonnet gives me at least another degree. As easy as that. Don't get a tight balaclava - that will be uncomfortable and doesn't work as well. A neoprene cap or bonnet but be prepared to cut a couple of holes in the top so that air bubbles don't...

What to wear immediately after a dive?

Thank you so much for this reply. Perhaps it is the way it translates into English. :rofl3: Apologies, ever so slightly edited.

What to wear immediately after a dive?

I don't know from personal experience but I don't recall anyone using a rash guard instead of a swimsuit. They can be pretty tight and probably very hot in warm weather. Conventional seems to be swimwear. And they can't all be wrong. I know you hate tankinis although it is difficult to tell...

    Sleeping in the tropics.

Late to this thread. I have been to Weda, when the loudest noise was the hornbills flying overhead. I think the idea of sleeping pods tried out in a couple of cottage is a good idea. And the eco technology is improving all the time. If the pods are well insulated they should not put a strain...

Opening Of Indonesia pushed to end of 2020?

Have friends in various places in Indonesia - just want them and their families and neighbours to stay well. Hope to go diving in Manado early next year, but don't bet on it. Would be flying in via Singapore so am watching "corridor" agreements through there carefully. Thanks for the up to...

    Check your mask for leaks!

Another tip for checking mask fit. Once you have inhaled and the mask is sticking to your face, sllde your fingers under your top lip to simulate having a regulator in your mouth. This checks the fit around under the nose and the "smile lines". Some masks fit really well with the inhale test...

    NEWBIE... GEAR RECOMMENDATIONS ?

A mask that fits reliably, got to be first choice. Some people seem to be able to wear anything and it doesn't leak, but then some of us try dozens until we find one that actually fits. So, I always have a back up. Nothing else will stop you diving if you have to hire it. Regulator - the key...

What to wear immediately after a dive?

Nappy rash. Sitting with a wet bottom. Miserable. I have so much sympathy with babies. Microfibre camping towel wrapped round your bum area will help dry if you can't slip out of your bottoms. Two piece swimsuits are a must, one-piece are the work of the devil (who was a male and wanted to...

    Clive Cussler

Late to this thread. No news of this in the UK that I saw. I always took one of his books on holiday. Read all of Dirk Pitt, Isaac Bell and Juan Cabrillo. I enjoyed the different styles that his co-writers brought. I hope they run the Sea Hunters in the UK, would be interested to see those...

5-7 days - Woman traveling alone - Where to go???

This Lumba Lumba is at Manado in Sulawesi. Going to Banda Aceh is not the right direction. Flying in to Singapore, or Jakarta or Denpasar, are the best routes to Manado at the moment. Manado is the airport for Lembeh and works pretty well for flying on to Ternate for Halmahera. I am...

I hope you make it. Ask Maxi to show you his crab - he discovered a new species and it is all verified and officially named after him.

5-7 days - Woman traveling alone - Where to go???

I was talking about Lumbalumba in Manado. The flight from Singapore is 3 hrs 45 mins using SilkAir which is now becoming Scoot, transfer time in Manado is less than an hour. They pick you up any time of day or night. You should find that flights have a decent luggage allowance for diving...
