Tobermorry Ontario. I have rarely heard it mentioned on this board. Toby is the best place to wreck dive (at recreational depths) in Ontario, possibly in Canada. Most divers here are warm(er) water divers, so it gets no press.

I'm going to need to get wet during my upcoming academic terms. I will be at UW from September to April and am up for some diving (Though I have no car....) if anyone else is. Just a note, we need a UW scuba club, or at least an underwater hockey group.

Diving in the great lakes in the winter (0-4C) I have found the best solution is to use three finger mitts. I dive with a pair of 5mm mitts and have never had a problem with cold hands. If you don't practice a bit with them you will feel some dexterity loss, but they are so much warmer.

Lake Ontario, shore dive, both my father and I develop infections, Eww. I just get the water out with shaking and seem to be okay.

I find I have to use ankle weights in 7mm if I am less than 10m. My trim is perfect below that depth, but the suit is a pain above it.

I did the math on this once. The approximate difference is about 7% for iron. An SG difference of 2 or 3 is not actually that significant when talking about buoyancy.

This brings up a good point for me, I dive in a 7mm farmer john with all the weight in my harness pockets. If I became separated I would be screwed... Damn, I need to think about about some non-ditchable weight.

Infrared is excellent. My Subgear XP-10, and my father's Uwatecs Smart Trak 2 both have Irda support. When I get home I just copy over the dives and print them for my log.
