    Flex Fuel?

Well, if we are lucky, the bio-hydrogen reactors that are being worked on, and the new nanotech fuel cell tech being built will allow us to switch over to using hydrogen. Hydrogen has its problems, but anywhere you have water and some form of power you can get hydrogen. Iceland thanks to...

    Flex Fuel?

Well, If the gas has 15% Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), which has an enthalpy of about -1400kJ/Mol (Negative because it loses potential energy when it burns, that turns into heat and in the case of engines pressure), and 85% octane (CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH3) which has an enthalpy of about -5000kJ/Mol, the...

Violating a Site's Terms of Service Is a Crime

Well, some sites have a problem (against tos) with me using ad and script blockers, would that make blocking malicious scripts or irritating pop-ups a crime? Well, no, not for me, I am not american.

favorite movies (not necessarily dive related)

Just got back to the thread now. Yes, Ronin has a great car chase and is one of my favourite movies, the name just escaped me while writing the list. It is also true the bourne trilogy did not mirror the books well however movies almost never mirror books so I expected it. Still entertaining...

STA bolt too short or am I doing something wrong?

It is possible it is too short, just go to a hardware store and get some SS bolts that are longer, about $5.

    extended time in cold water?

I have done 2 hours in 7C water (at the surface, 4 at depth) in my 7mm farmer john. There was a 500m surface swim to the site, then an hour at 20m. I was not super cold, it was not bad.

    Deco entertainment

A rubiks cube would be a great idea except I am sure my consumption would increase significantly from the frustration. I think we just need to "homebrew" one of those datamasks to display text or something.

    new boots.. floaty feet

The boots are floaty in the pool, but below 10m thick boots are pretty good. When I dive shallow I wear 500g ankle weights to compensate.

    Diy decompression chamber.

That is neat. I was thinking you could just tank an old autoclave and convert it. Generally autoclaves are good for 50-500 bar depending on the usage. Unfortunately finding one would be difficult/

    Drysuit weighting advice

You are switching to a drysuit? The last time I ran into you and your son you stipulated your Henderson jumpsuit was all you needed. If it is any consolation I am getting a drysuit as well.

    Toronto Clubs

Don't forget about the Mississauga Scuba Club. The majority of the local dives are in Humber bay park west and the rest are across Ontario. Here is the website: Link

    Weights

My father in his 1980 whites commercial neoprene drysuit needs 36# (including ankle weights) to get under. He is 5'7, 150 lbs. With a more modern drysuit it is not that extreme, but thick suits need a lot of ballast.

    DIY gas sensors?

On topic, we may need to do some testing to figure out what the best method is. I would offer my services except I am on an academic term until may and do not have access to a lab. (which is too bad really, I'll see if I can work something out, I know we have a bottle of CO, a LP regulator and...

    DIY gas sensors?

CO is very dangerous in breathing gas as when you dive deep the partial pressure of the CO increases. A low level at 1 ATA may not be dangerous, but a 5 it is a huge concern.

    DIY gas sensors?

Bagging each sample may not be a terrible plan. If one used a balloon or condom as a chamber you could fill it with the sample and use the diameter as a pressure indicator.

    Yet another drysuit thread.

You can just wear a semi-dry, but you will get cold. With a wetsuit there is suit compression at depth, which means your toasty 7mm will be a freezing 3.5mm at 2atm, and a frigid 2mm past 3atm (generally, it is not that precise, and the material resists compression to some degree). I can stand...

    Yet another drysuit thread.

Sorry, anymore opinions out there, I am trying to make a very well informed choice considering the cost. Also: The Fusion is not being considered due to cost reasons, I am sure it is a good suit, I just cannot afford it.
