    Disturbing trend in diving?

That surprises me none at all. Belize, Mexico....there are no repercussions to those operators if they screw the pooch and get you bent or worse.

    Gas Math / Dissimilar Volumes

This is a PowerPoint I use to help students understand why and how to gas match with dissimilar volume tanks. Gas Matching

Equipment It seems that not all hyperbaric chambers are created equally

A typical monoplace hyperbaric chamber can reach a depth equivalent to a pressure of around 3 atmospheres absolute (ATA), however, some high-end models may be able to reach deeper pressures, up to 6 ATA or 165 feet of water depth depending on the design and safety regulations followed. Google...

Unknown Friend got hit with DCS

OC sidemount I have 2 Shearwater computers. One on each arm. One reads tank pressures from both bottles. On my Choptima CCR I have a Shearwater Nerd2 in my face acting as a controller and another on my arm running in constant PO2 mode. Both the Nerd2 and the arm mounted can display...

Unknown Friend got hit with DCS

I am a techie and have been a tech/cave instructor since 1975. Also, an ex-US Navy diving/salvage officer. So, you can call me old school too. It's nothing to be particularly proud of if you simply stay in that old school room. I have been trusting electronics underwater for 50 years on OC...

Unknown Friend got hit with DCS

As a US Navy trained recompression chamber operator/supervisor I cannot believe it did. @Duke Dive Medicine what say you?

Unknown Friend got hit with DCS

The dive ops I am familiar with require each diver making a dive deeper than 60 feet to have a dive computer. But...Mexico.....

Unfortunately, you cannot purchase situational awareness. That is the most lacking component in this story.

Cave CCR - On board gas management

You are 100% correct. Maybe the CCR Cave instructor covered this material and the OP missed it.

Unknown Friend got hit with DCS

The smart move would have been to just sit out dive #2 because of what happened on dive #1.

Cave CCR - On board gas management

This is why I opined that the OP needs to take a CCR cave class from a competent instructor. I am not quite sure exactly what @lostsheep disagrees with me about. I also do not think this is an appropriate venue to be teaching CCR cave gas management. No disrespect to the OP intended.

Cave CCR - On board gas management

I think the OP needs to enroll in a CCR cave class with a competent instructor.

    Question DiveX BlackTip Questions

These batteries came with my BT Tech 18 months ago or so and work ok for me. No issues at all. I do expect the DeWalts are the better choice, but that's an educated guess only. I routinely get about 5000 feet of run time on these batteries with somewhere around 20% reserve remaining. See my...

    Petral 3 or Nerd 2?

I like the NERD on my Choptima - I like not having the wire that comes with the handset controllers.

CCR Cave - Why take it?

NSS-CDS standards allow it. Most instructors would prefer you do the 1st half of the course on OC.
