I got liquid O2 and aviators O2 from AirGas for many years at the two different dive shops I owned. They told me that they pulled a vacuum on the aviators' bottles before filling them to ensure lower moisture and remove contaminants. They did not do this on welding grade O2 because it does not...

Opinions vary.

Extra moisture in the desiccant shortens the filter life. If sending O2 directly to tanks as in boosting or PP blending, aviators is the wise choice.

20+ years of knowing it. Moisture in an airplane at 20,000 feet freezes O2 lines. No moisture in hospital O2 irritates lungs. Common sense.

I tip in advance. Ensures better service.

Medical O2 has moisture in it. Aviators has no moisture in it. It may all come from the same source but the aviators O2 is dry, or at least drier. You don't want to put moist gas in your scuba system for obvious reasons, but you do want moist gas in a medical O2, again for obvious reasons.

Get aviators O2 not medical.

I would just tell the story as you did here, maybe a bit more detail. If the shop staff was rude, I'd sure want to know.

I have a Petrel 2 with a Fischer connector capped off. I have a few hundred dives on it with never a problem.

What do make your ear beer out of? I use 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and white vinegar. If I don't use Ear beer, I get ear infections from freshwater spring diving.

Are you certified as a rebreather diver?

When you turn upside down the sorb will fall from the bottom of the scrubber to the top. Loose sorb like that is equivalent to no sorb at all.

When the Mariel Boatlift happened in 1980 we had a fairly stable and large number of Queen Conchs in the Florida Keys. Most "Conchs" feel that these people wiped out the Queen Conchs in the keys.
