Getting the most out of OW class

Good attitiude. Keep asking questions, and find an instructor you can relate to. I heartily recommend any of John Lippmann's books, too. Good luck, dive safely and have fun!

    What are your favorite foods?

I have a friend who has a sister in Kent. Last fall she said, "Well, it's September - time for my sister to start cooking the vegetables for Christmas dinner..." Gotta echo the vote for Primos in Coz. I was in Victoria, BC last week and had a Dungeness crab. (I believe this is the one also...

    Wrist vs Console

Why not just put the Vyper and the compass on bungees and call it a day. You could probably even pull out the SPG and just clip it to your waistbelt. You'l be no worse off as a diver and several thousand $$ richer.

Agreed. Which in my experience with a d/s usually means an effortless initial descent.

    Were your drygloves an improvement?

You just move the little glass tube in your thermometer down a bit. That, or dive in salt water.

To me, it's more like advocating cell phone usage in a moving vehicle because it's got airbags anyway.

Definitely agreed. The twitchy word here being, 'attentive', IMO. What kind of failure can cause an immediate out-of-air situation, and how often does it occur? Not trying to make any particular point; I really am asking. I once saw a fairly spectacular yoke valve O-ring failure, but fairly...

    Trim Question...BC vs Dry Suit??

Well, yeah - there's always wishful thinking. I gather those MUC characters having been screwing about again; somebody was saying they found the telephone booth upside down on the deck...

    Trim Question...BC vs Dry Suit??

'Correctly'? I dunno... If I come up from the first dive feeling a mite chilled, I'm not a bit beyond throwing on a couple more pounds so more air can go into the drysuit. If you have decent underwear that is capable of expanding, thereby creating more loft, this works quite well. My 400g...

    Trim Question...BC vs Dry Suit??

I agree with the rest of these guys: I've always thought that using a drysuit for bouyancy was a bit like trying to use a BC to stay dry; not the intended function of the tool.

    Hello From Canada!!

Uxbridge - nr Ottawa? Yes, Apex/Zeagle regs are a very good way to go. You might also like the Zeagle 'Flathead 6'. Where do you dive?

I think I'd prefer the doubles/isolator manifold route, if it was practical. That's a major mediocher buddy to be diving with.

    Wrist vs Console

Dear Sir: I represent TCTUTTSGD (The committee to understand the term, 'SGD') and we would like to put you on notice that an explanation has been demanded by the central chair. All efforts so far to decode this acronym have failed, and even Google merely returns links to sites such as...

    Scared of sharks

No need to be afraid of sharks - the real danger is at home! <twitch> No, really - I'm fine. I can handle it. This is actually quite therapeutic - a support group for divers with -er - eccentric fathers. This is why I'm not afraid of sharks - if Dad doesn't scare the cr@p outa me, why...
