Identifying old Scubapro 1st and 2nd stages

The mk10 is arguably a "better" reg, being balanced - provided it's not totally trashed inside, but both are fully serviceable. I've just "upgraded" my twins set from a pair of mk17/S600 to a pair of mk10/156 if that gives you any indication.

I invested in my first set of gear!

Just re-reading your original post, I thought I'd respond again with a touch of local experience weighing in. I think that gear is a great start and will last you a while. Where you go from here will depend on your diving choices and your gear headedness :) Compared to twins, a single and pony...

Thread adapter for tank pressure checker

So I pushed the limits of my tank pressure checker by checking my 300bar tanks, and I done broken it. So I ordered a replacement Metalsub digital gauge (DIGITAL AIR PG – Metalsub) but in my late night haste amongst flicking between many sites, didn't realise that the one I pulled the trigger on...

I invested in my first set of gear!

    The math is not that hard. 7L (water capacity) x 2 (they're twins) x 300bar (pressure) 7 x 2 x 300 = 4200L D8.5s are 8.5 x 2 x 230 = 3910L D12s are 12 x 2 x 230 = 5520L (for simplicity I've rounded the numbers). Think we're going a little off topic here...

I invested in my first set of gear!

Twin 7s at 232bar is 3248L of gas. Twin 7s at 300bar is 4200L of gas. So the 300's give you an extra 30% gas. The 300s are also somewhat heavier than the 232s, so some argue that instead of running twin 7L 300s you may as well just run twin 12L 232s. But with my 7L 300's and a steel backplate I...

I invested in my first set of gear!

Certainly do. Faber steels are everywhere here. 12.2L 232bar singles and twins are everywhere, and the 7L twins are also very popular in both 232 and 300 varieties. I have 300s.

Question How does pressure increase with depth in water?

One thing that certainly is obvious, is that this is not a concept that is easily grasped. The interwebs are full of forum posts and physics educational discussions trying to explain and understand it!

Question How does pressure increase with depth in water?

Here's a YouTube video will explains reasonably well. The mind-bending concept here comes about when trying to apply the physics of a solid to a fluid. If you have an oddly shaped solid object, the entire mass of the object is concentrated on the surface on which it is resting. With fluids...

Question How does pressure increase with depth in water?

Not quite right. If the diameter is 8" at the surface, at 10m/33ft the volume will halve, not the diameter. So when the pressure doubles, the diameter will actually be 6.35" (Using for the formula (4/3) × π × r³)

Question How does pressure increase with depth in water?

This is indeed a mind bending scenario. But take a look at the link below. The formula for pressure includes the fluid density, effect of gravity and the depth of the fluid. It does *not* include the mass or surface area of the fluid. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/pflu.html

    Shark experience in Beqa Lagoon

I can only comment on the Beqa dive experience which I did in June 2022. The Beqa Lagoon Resort is a great resort if you're planning on staying there. Highly recommended. We were there for a whole week and one day was the shark diving. Very well diving outfit. The transfer across to Beqa...

    Best dives in Australia

That's probably going to differ between regions in Australia. I'm in Melbourne, where there is quite an active tech diving community. Most of the boat diving departs off Portsea or Queenscliff, and as well as plenty of 12-18m sites, there are also wall dives where you can get 50m. Just outside...

Ratio Dive Computers Announces New iX3M 2!! Our Best Dive Computer yet!

I just received an email from Ratio about their latest software update. One of the changes is now the dive planner can go up to 999 minutes. I stopped at 120 minutes. Would be nice if increments sped up if you hold the button down though.

Ratio Dive Computers Announces New iX3M 2!! Our Best Dive Computer yet!

Yes, maximum bottom time in the planner is 60 minutes. The actual dive plan will extend to as long as your deco profile requires. TBH, if you're planning dives with a bottom time greater than 60 minutes are you realistically doing your plan based on a square profile dive computer simulation, or...

If you lay a line from A to B, is there a way to retrieve a line from B?

The situation is as OP described in the post #3, It's not looking for a lost object, it's not navigating around a wreck. The skipper has dropped a shot line to the wreck, but he's missed the mark. The instruction is something like "OK, the shot is 15m NE of the stern, so when you hit the bottom...

I've had no issue at all. Most of my diving is in <18ºC water, so pretty much always with a hood.

    Info Diving in Bali

Let's compare safety ratings between one of Australia's low cost airlines and one of Indonesia's. And just for the record, I don't have a negative attitude to Indonesia. I have a negative attitude to the resort region of Bali and the country's airlines.
