2FA is great but it's not the answer to everything. I use 2FA for important credentials. I can't stand having to use 2FA for every forum and every other website account that I may or may not use over an extended period of time. I use a private, secure password safe which is more...
I'm looking for an Android charting app to use on my Samsung tablet as a personal complement the Lowrance units on club boats.
Only day diving, recording sites etc, no real need for routing or complex nav.
I've downloaded and checked out trials for i-Boating, Navionics, C-Map and Wavve. All...
Yes. I emailed Ratio support, and they said that the transmitter is only rated for 300bar and intended for use up to 250bar. Anything above 254 will read as 254.
There is a 350bar version in the roadmap, but no indication as to when that might be available
Her account shows that she has a level of medical knowledge beyond the layperson (including me), and no doubt knows the difference between atrial and arterial.
Arterial refers to arteries (ie, the blood vessels leaving the heart)
Atrial refers to the hearts upper chambers of the heart.
@rmorgan good intel there, but in general its a good idea to avoid recommending seasons (fall/spring) for travel, given that those seasons don't really exist in those destinations. PNG and Indonesia are equatorial, if not just south of the equator, and they tend to have wet season and dry...
Is it a straightforward task? Obviously in theory it's just adding a balance chamber (and removing the spring holder) and changing the poppet, but looking at the schematics of the two, there are a couple of subtle differences that may make it more trouble than its worth? Not having an actual...
You realise that if you adjust your weighting to perfection in a freshwater pool, you will still need to adjust it for saltwater when you jump into the ocean?
I ran it through an AI checker:
@Helmica if you want to contribute, please actually put your own effort in and create something originally instead of spewing garbage through AI generators.
What a complete bunch of drivel
Quick search.. Ripcurl H-Bomb (other than the obvious fact that Ripcurl is a surfing brand, not a diving brand) was a product that launched over 15 years and (pardon the pun) bombed pretty quickly and hasn't existed for years!
I won't bother itemising the rest of...
Every few months there is a thread on SB asking about do moustached men keep their masks sealed. Without a 'stache, with a short one, with a bushy unkempt one, all I do is put my mask on.
I come across more unmoustached people that struggle with leaky masks than I do moustached people. In fact...
I have a Tech2 and a Sport which I bought together about 6 years ago. I haven't used the Sport that much, but the Tech2 has had plenty of use and I quite like it. Three years ago I noticed on their website that they had an upgraded charge port. They were really easy to deal with, and when I...
Yes, it is a pain and most would argue overkill. But if the cost is your gripe, especially in the context of rebreathers, the maths doesn't add up!! It costs $60 to hydro a tank. Last I checked that's 2/3 the cost of a single tank boat dive, or to get back on the CCR topic, half the cost of a...
Do you mean that there are no options to get rebreather certified in Sydney, or no options to get rEVO or choptima certified? Pretty sure there's a number of CCR instructors in the area if you open your options up for the unit you want to dive.
Whatever would make you think that it's cheaper to buy gear here than in the US? It's often cheaper for me to buy from the US and get it sent over here!
I've travelled using an SS plate. For my next trip I bought a carbon fibre. The SS will be staying right where it is, used for cold water diving.
The extra weight of a steel plate and STA is not trivial when it comes to packing.
On the trip where I used my CF plate the only option was steel...
@Andre171 I think you really need to rethink your objectives. You're making life complicated because you're hell bent on slicking with a carbon fibre backplate. They're great for warm water travel diving. They're a very poor choice for cold water.
The whole point of using a BP is to keep it...
There's a bit going on here. First off, be very careful about how you present facts, especially about making exaggerations. I guarantee you that the waves you experienced were not "several meters high". So straight away your recollection loses a lot of credibility.
I'm not familiar with all...
That was a pretty uninformed assumption that the GPS would work underwater. That's a well known physical limitation of the underlying technology, not a device limitation. I use my Garmin to track entry and exit points. On the boat, turn on dive mode, check computer settings, buddy check, and by...
