    Which regs to keep?

To get back on topic .. it can be very handy to have a second set of regs. Either to stagger servicing as @DrakeTheDiver suggested, or to have a spare set if there is an issue with your other set (or your buddy's). If I'm diving locally, I always have a spare set in the car, and if I'm traveling...

    Which regs to keep?

As @Pressurehead said, two sets is a breeding pair, not a herd. When you run out of fingers and toes to count them is when to starting thinking about considering to maybe get rid of some.

    Help identifying Apeks regs

So my next question is, where do I go about finding service kits for the WMD first stages?

    Help identifying Apeks regs

Thanks for that info @gratefulmjc. The model badge decal has come off both XTX200 second stages, so was relying on the purge as an identifier.

    Help identifying Apeks regs

And then finally this inflator first stage that I have no idea about, or how I go about finding a service kit for it?

    Help identifying Apeks regs

This first stage doesn't have Apeks branding, so I'm not sure it it is Apeks or something else. Obviously one of the seconds is an ATX200, but the other two?

    Help identifying Apeks regs

I'm not particularly familiar with Apeks regs, having only typically used and serviced ScubaPro, Aqualung and Poseidons. I picked up a batch lot of equipment from a retired diver, and it included 5x first and 5x second stages, plus an inflator cylinder first stage. The Aqualung Legend is an...

    Pressure left hand signals

I try to always use the 1-5 vertical, 6-9 horizontal. It's what I teach, and if I'm diving with new buddies that use something else will try to steer them that way. I'm not in the US so I use bar. Teaching students, I'll ask for all digits, eg "1" "7" "0". But with my buddies, the first two...

How important is panel valve directionality?

A ball valve is a better option if fine flow control is not required, and I believe a rising plug valve the better option when fine flow control is required. However at scuba pressures, a Sherwood style panel valve is orders of magnitude cheaper than either of the other two options.

Best way to remove catheter with hair entangled

How important is panel valve directionality?

Thanks for your response @iain/hsm, but you haven't answered my question. I am not advocating fitting valves back to front, but merely asking about an observation. Consider the following rudimentary cascade panel, of which I have seen many variations of in various installations. The flow from...

How important is panel valve directionality?

Panel valves like the Thermo or Sherwood ones listed below show directionality for gas flow. But connected to a manifold block for a basic fill panel, gas flow is in one direction when filling the storage bank, and in the other direction when decanting. It seems overkill to have a different flow...

    Fill station pressure gauge connection

I'm putting together a bill-of-materials for my fill station, considering predominantly Parker or Swagelok. I have a WIKA 100mm for my fill gauge, but have hit a block with how to connect it. The gauge inlet is a G1/2 BSPP male connection. Easy enough. The Parker part number is 4FSC8GC, which...

    Coltri fill station lever valve

Most fill stations I've seen and used have the "standard" valve that we know and love that is easy to use and readily allows flow adjustment to the tank(s) being filled. How do the Coltri lever/joystick valves work? I'm led to believe they have an integrated bleed (similar to the Bauer fill...

Couple of questions re Bauer mini verticus (MV120-5.5-2)

Two reasons. 1. Because I can 2. The challenge. Same reason I made my over-engineered o2 analyser 3. Convenience Oops. That was 3. The third one is just an added bonus.

Yep, the ol' sound proofing looks like its seen better days! Should have it looking like your before too long! Then down the road of designing and building an excessively over engineering fill panel :D Touche sir. :p

Couple of questions re Bauer mini verticus (MV120-5.5-2)

Thanks @Mudbags .. I had checked in the manual and the diagrams at the front showed the version without the auto drain. It wasn't until after I posted that I went through more exhaustively and saw the auto-drain componentry which mine has. I'm looking forward to playing with my new toy. Looks...

Couple of questions re Bauer mini verticus (MV120-5.5-2)

There is a Bauer MV120 that I'm interested in. Not much info on it, and from the pics looks somewhat weathered and will need a little TLC. Not sure if that was while in service, or if its been neglected after being taken out of service. Hour meter says 5095 hours. It doesn't come with any...

    Garmin Descent X50i & Subsurface & Mac

Hi @bartucxp. You're generally better asking for assistance on the Subsurface mailing list or the Google Group (Subsurface Divelog - Google Groups) I can't speak for Mac, but the Garmin connectivity on Windows is also a bit finnicky. I don't have an x50i (Mk2i here), and the least frustrating...

Bali to Komodo Island to Bali to Sorong in one day!

Last year I did a Bali - Komodo - Bali liveaboard, and we spent a couple of hours on a Komodo Island tour. We saw three dragons - one near the village which was very docile and appeared to be drugged and a lot of the group had photos taken with it (crouching down about 3-4m behind, with camera...
